5 /5 Chase Salazar: Stopped into Chapala for dinner on a weeknight and it absolutely delivered. The place has that warm, lively energy you want in a Mexican restaurant—busy but not chaotic, clean, and clearly run by people who care.
Service: Fast, friendly, and on top of everything. Our server checked in at the right times, refilled drinks without asking, and had solid recommendations.
What we ordered:
• Chips + salsa to start — chips were fresh and warm, salsa had real flavor (not watery).
• Carne asada plate — steak was tender, seasoned well, and the sides were legit.
• Chicken fajitas — sizzling hot, generous portions, and the tortillas were soft and fresh.
• Margarita on the rocks — balanced, not overly sweet, and actually tasted like a real margarita.
Everything tasted fresh, portions were more than fair, and the food came out hot and consistent. You can tell it’s a local favorite for a reason.
Pro tips:
• Go hungry — portions are generous.
• If you like spice, ask for their hotter salsa.
• Great for date night or a group dinner.
I’ll definitely be back. If you’re looking for a reliable, really satisfying Mexican meal, Chapala is it.
