Don Pepe’s Express - (Near Edinburg, TX)

5 /5 Cindy Rodriguez: We are so happy to have a Don Pepe’s nearby now! We’ve been here 3 times and have had delicious food and great service each time. Food is delicious and always good portions and good prices. Service is great and welcoming. There are so many different options on menu that we can come here often and always eat differently. This time my hubby had the Rebecca’s enchiladas (shrimp) and they were so good. I had the barbacoa taco which had almost enough for 2 tacos, so yummy, and a cup of menudo which was delicious as well. Our son had the kids cheeseburger which he really enjoyed and came with a side of homemade fries. Our choriqueso was so yummy as well, that I didn’t even have time to take a picture. Several football games were playing on the TV’s which was a plus! Will definitely be back soon!

4 /5 Billy (OverlandGeek): We visited the newly opened Don Pepe’s Express this morning for breakfast, and I have to say, the experience was impressive. The restaurant itself is beautiful, open, spacious, and nicely decorated. The ambiance is warm and inviting. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted right away and encouraged to sit wherever we liked. Within seconds, our waiter was at our table taking drink orders. My wife and son had apple juice, and I went with coffee. The coffee deserves a special mention; it was smooth and rich, possibly freshly brewed, and easily one of the best I have had in a while. For food, my wife ordered the Huevos Divorciados, while I went with two singles: Migas and Huevos Rancheros. Both plates came with a side of refried beans. While the portions were fair for the price and the flavors were good, the beans unfortunately arrived cold, which was a bit disappointing. Still, my wife really enjoyed her dish and finished it, as did my son. The total for our meal was $37.91, which felt reasonable for the quality and service. Despite the small hiccup with the beans, we left satisfied and are looking forward to coming back soon to try more from the menu.

5 /5 Christopher Acevedo: What more can I say? This place is hands down THEEEE BEST Mexican restaurant in the RGV. The staff is always so generous and attentive. The kitchen staff always puts out great food and very quickly. The food always taste homemade and authentic. Open from 7am -3pm breakfast and lunch Don Pepe’s express is always the right choice !!

5 /5 ERICA LUEVANO: Don Pepe’s Express in Edinburg is a must-try! We’ve always loved the original Don Pepe’s in McAllen, so we were excited to try their new Express location — and it did not disappoint! They started us off with a warm and comforting caldito de pollo and chips, which was such a nice touch. We ordered the Queso Fundido as an appetizer (SO cheesy and delicious!), then the Plato de Jorge and Plato Don Homero for our main meals. Everything was full of flavor, cooked perfectly, and served hot. The service was fast and friendly, and the space was super clean. This is definitely a new go-to lunch spot for us in Edinburg — can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

5 /5 Martin Salazar: We had our Department Thanksgiving luncheon at Don Pepe’s. Waiting for the conference room to be setup, I could spot in the busy dining area a number of respected members of the community and former politicians. A new restaurant located near the Courthouse with a bright sunlit atmosphere. The waiters were well dressed and attentive. We were served a traditional Thanksgiving plate with all the fixings. The turkey breast was moist, the stuffing was just like I remember as a kid. The green bean casserole was creamer than I like but good. The smoked-maple ham was served thick. We ended the gathering with a sweet pumpkin pie and strong coffee. The head chef even took the time to take our group picture! A very memorable experience.
