4 /5 C Roger (TexanPlumber): Averys Chicken Fried Catfish
I was born and raised in Houston. We knew when crawfish season was coming and eagerly awaited its arrival.
Looking over Floyds menu, my heart and belly were very excited. I chose the Chicken Fried Catfish. It arrived with a creamy crawfish bisque covering the golden fried fish. There was a mound of lonely white rice joining this vision of happiness.
A team stopped by to ask how we were doing. I mentioned the rice. It was plain with no bisque. She quickly brought a serving to cover it with.
This part rates a 5 of 5. The bisque made me smile. I could taste the freshness. Loaded with crawfish, the combination of catfish, bisque and crawfish is a meal that is hearty and flavorful.
It would be impossible to finish my plate. The portion was for the "Bold & Hungry"
I tried my side dish of baked potato fully loaded. Loaded it was. For some reason, the potato was cold. Not refrigerator cold but room temperature cold. I did not mention it to them because I could not eat more than a bite anyway. It was going home for tomorrows lunch.
When we entered, we saw a tray of desserts. We did not think of it until we were driving home - no one offered/suggested the baked goodies. We could not eat another bite but I definitely would have taken it home.
Overall, this visit was a good one. A few minor tweaks, and this would jump to our Top 10 Favorite Restaurants.
