4 /5 Bentham Michelle: We landed in Waco Christmas Day and made a reservation with Magnolia Table for Friday morning. It is a bit out of the way, but the place itself is nice with an upscale diner feel. Seating at wall tables was a bit cramped. Parking is a challenge.
Service was reasonable, our waiter kind and relational asking about our trip and how our Christmas had been spent.
THE STRAWBERRY BUTTER WAS WORTH THE VISIT. Their breakfast sausage was yummy, and sourdough toast a nice option.
In all honesty, strawberry butter appears to be whipped butter with strawberry preserves added. Not sure if they are homemade or store bought.
The rest of our meal was rather ordinary. The biscuits looked like something reheated from frozen. The scrambled eggs came out lukewarm with chives or parsley sprinkles, not so special, the home fried potatoes were basic Dennys or IHOP fair without peppers or onions -- appeared to be from a bagged frozen food service, and our waiter while fast and relational at first was absent while we ate, and we had to wait for about 15 minutes after we finished our meal to get our check.
At $50+ dollars for two breakfasts, a coffee, soda, and 4 biscuits with strawberry butter seems a bit overpriced. A unique local restaurant in D/FW without strawberry butter for two similar breakfasts with homemade biscuits and real butter was less than $30 and more satisfying portions.
