Mels Diner - (Near Wheeler, TX)

Jillian Terrell Yummy twist on biscuits and gravy , the sausage patties were phenomenal!!! You could tell they’re hand made and the meat was juicy and great seasoning. The beet salad was also delicious and tasted freshly prepared!

James Rhodes Early dinner visit. The food was excellent—absolutely no complaints there. When we arrived, they were playing some pretty loud, pop-style Christmas music, which was a bit much. To their credit, they did turn it down somewhat when asked, and that helped. Service was decent, though the server could have been a bit more attentive. Our drink order was taken quickly, but we didn’t get another chance to order appetizers separately, so we had to order everything at once. As a result, there wasn’t much time to enjoy the apps before the main courses arrived, which came out fairly quickly. If I had one real complaint, it would be the cleanliness of the restrooms, which was far below expectations. Overall, though, the food was outstanding and everything else was fine. I’m still giving this a 5 because of the quality of the food, but if there were a 4.5 option, that would probably be more accurate.

Becca Balestrieri Just ate for the first time here and everything about our dining experience was great. The atmosphere was very nice and cozy. Our female server was also very good. The calamari appetizer and the rolls were very good. Our party had a white pizza with chicken and a build your own combo pizza.....delicious! Loved my cheese ravioli and my brother really liked his lasagna.....yum! Would order them all again but with so many choices we are eager to come back and try other menu items!

Raymond Magruder A co-worker who lives in Amarillo suggested I try Lazy Gator while I was in town from Dallas, Texas. I am prone to gravitate to small local eateries....and Lazy Gator is now one place I will return to when I visit the Amarillo area!! It is evident that this is a gathering place for locals. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and excellent service!! When I was seated the server came immediately. She (Christen) was very friendly, extremely attentive, and wore an amazing smile, all of which made my first experience a memorable one! Lazy Gator is definitely on my go back list. Celeste Tunstall The prices here are very good and the quality of food was excellent! I came here with family and the servers were able to accommodate us in a pinch. The coffee was fresh and the food was tasty. I got the breakfast wrap with sausage, potato, egg, cheese, and fresh veggies. The wrap was hot, tasty, and filled to the brim with food. I unwrapped it for the photo to show it off! My sister got the stuffed avocado, which was half of an avocado with its pit removed, replaced by scrambled eggs and cheese. She really enjoyed her meal, which was very good to hear. Everyone enjoyed their drinks as well. Overall, it is a great place for breakfast!
