5 /5 Brandon: Was looking for a place to eat while I stayed at a hotel in downtown Amarillo and came across Mi Gente. Did a little bit of reading and it looks like this was a stand-alone food truck but they recently acquired a store front. The menu was intriguing so I figured Id give it a shot.
It was easy to find with the food truck parked right out front, which is where the food is cooked, then brought inside to your table. I was immediately greeted by a fresh modern atmosphere, a very friendly waiter, and super hip Latin American music.
They had specials listed on the counter and the Ahi tacos caught my eye. I told the waitress I was torn between the Ahi Tacos and the carnitas and she recommended the Ahi.
The tacos were quickly brought out and they were AMAZING. Partway through my meal she brought out a single carnitas taco for me to try since I had asked about them when I first came in. It too was very tasty, but not as good as the Ahi tacos.
I finished things up with the Nutella empanadas which were a perfect way to round things out.
Chatted with the chef for a minute and he was just as friendly as the waitress.
All in all a really great experience. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and the food was probably worth more than it cost considering just how amazing it tasted.
