3 /5 Mrs. Maddox: Never had a chicken salad with mustard pickles tomato.. there is cut up pickles and around pickles, long strip of raw onion. Thin chicken salad. it was actually not that bad. I would have liked more meat. I did not like thick wheat bread. I told one of them with no lettuce on one of them and still put it on it. It sounded like she didnt speak English well.

4 /5 Greg Andrews: Stopped in during a super heavy rainstorm for lunch. The staff was super nice. Service was quick. Bakery counter looked great. The hamburger was good but the 2 sandwiches from my group were not (one chicken salad and the other was pimento cheese). The chicken salad was too wet and the pimento cheese was thick and firm. Bread was fresh, but dry.

5 /5 Amanda Prince: 5/5 – Delicious stop after the castle! We visited Newman’s Bakery after our tour of Newman’s Castle, and it was the perfect way to round out the experience. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a jalapeño cheese sausage kolache and a cream cheese kolache (or danish, depending on what you call it)—both were fresh and packed with flavor. We also grabbed some castle cookies to take home, which were a fun and tasty souvenir. The staff was polite, and service was quick. We did show up around 1pm so a lot of things were already sold out. The inside of the building feels a bit worn in, especially the floors, but that just adds to the charm of a long-standing local bakery that’s been serving the community for years. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Bellville—especially if you’re coming from the castle!
