5 /5 Shelly Hubbard: Ever now and again, I like to eat something other than the norm. I picked a town on Google and looked for a place to eat. 40 minutes later, here I am.
The place is in the middle of nowhere. You come into the town, and everything looks closed. Then you see the flags and German sign. Thats the place.
The inside is small, but they have it set up German style. Its more of a family style of eating. They have big tables or benches to accommodate lots of people. It doesnt matter if you know them or not. They fill the tables.
I ordered the Jagerschnitzel with red cabbage and sauerkraut. I also got a cherry and blueberry streusel to take home.
While waiting, the lady running the place offered me a glass of wine for free as they didnt have their liquor license as of yet. Shortly after that, she asked me if I was a mom and brought me a rose for Mothers Day.
My food came out, and it smelled great. The cabbage and sauerkraut were great. Finally, someone who doesnt add cinnamon or something gross to either one.
I liked the schnitzel, but it was a little bland without the gravy.
I tried the pastries when I hot home, and they are wonderful.
If you like to try new places or are close by, please stop in and give it a try. You wont be disappointed.
