Red Herring Restaurant & Bar - (Near Waco, TX)

5 /5 cambria Leigh: We went to Red Herring for my birthday and I absolutely loved it. The environment was cool, dark, and jazzy, such a perfect vibe for any night out. The food, atmosphere, drinks, and service were all amazing. I ordered the mule and my fiancé got the Old Fashioned, and maybe it’s bc we are only 22…those were the best ones we’ve had. I really loved the menu layout it’s clearly meant for ordering multiple dishes and enjoying a night of eating, drinking, and good conversation. Our server, Haley, was incredible and made us feel so welcome, and she made me feel extra special for my birthday dinner. Some favorites were the sourdough focaccia, the ribeye bites (so freaking good!), and of course my complimentary cheesecake mousse! I do wish there had been live music that night, but even without it, the experience was awesome. We’ll definitely be back!

5 /5 Bert Maqueda: The delicious food, creative bar menu, rooftop views and super cool vibe and decor make it a must do in Waco. Super close to Baylor University and the perfect place for a date night or special event. The banquet space is stunning!

5 /5 Veronica Ann Miller: If you’re considering dining here, be prepared for small portion sizes—yes, even the medium and large plates lean on the modest side. A good way to tell what size youre working with is to glance at the plates arriving at nearby tables before you order. There was some confusion at the start: bread and Caesar salads were brought to our table, and we initially assumed they were complimentary. Turns out, both belonged to the table next to us. It wasn’t our server’s fault, as different staff members deliver the food, but it was a little awkward. Now, on to the food: we ordered the dressed oysters, pork belly skewers, and crab cake. All three were delicious—flavorful, well-prepared, and nicely presented. Again though, portions were on the smaller side. The dress code is best described as business casual. While we saw a few diners in shorts and flip-flops, most were dressed a bit more upscale. I wore distressed (holely) capri jeans with wedge sandals and still felt slightly underdressed. Reservations are a good idea, though you can hang out at the bar while waiting for a table. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, and the staff was friendly and professional throughout our visit. This is a Mediterranean-inspired menu with prices ranging from $9 to $45. Overall, it was a great experience with high-quality food and service—just don’t expect to leave full unless you’re ordering multiple dishes.

5 /5 Katie Black: My husband and I were visiting Waco, we wanted to go to a nice restaurant for dinner and I found Red Herring Restaurant & Bar online. The food , atmosphere, service were amazing. If you are into plants (like me) they have so many real plants all throughout the restaurant. The only downside was it wasn’t very cool inside so we were getting warm towards the end of our meal after a few drinks.

5 /5 Courtney Grant: Absolutely Wonderful Experience We had the best time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful — warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxing night out. The food was incredible from start to finish, but the standout was definitely the bacon-wrapped shrimp. We loved it so much we’re still talking about it! The service was truly first class. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing food paired with an unforgettable dining experience. We will definitely be back!
