Hutchins BBQ - McKinney
Elizabeth Sperling Hutchins BBQ in McKinney is one of those places that reminds you why Texas barbecue has the reputation it does. This spot runs like a well oiled machine. The staff is genuinely warm and the whole place feels like small town Texas in the best way. The décor leans into that old world homegrown charm and you can actually smell the pits working the moment you turn onto University Drive. They even have a drive through which still surprises me because the food quality is unreal for something you can pick up without leaving your car.
Everything on the menu is top tier. The brisket is my personal favorite but the tri tip is the sleeper hit that should never be skipped. The ribs and sausage hold their own and the sides make you want to load up a second plate. Try the Texas Twinkie , only in Texas ;). It is very easy to walk out of here doing the wobble and not regret a single bite. They offer pit tours too and after seeing those massive smokers I know I need to make time for one next visit. Closing it out with complimentary banana pudding and peach cobbler when you dine in is the perfect touch and honestly what seals the deal.
