1 /5 Cln Sn: We booked a table two weeks before New Years Eve.
Two days before New Years Eve, someone from the restaurant called us to inform us that there would be a charge of $400 to $800 if we wanted to sit downstairs. But if we preferred, we could sit upstairs at no extra charge... and we agreed to be seated upstairs.
On New Years Eve, we arrived at 10:08 PM. The hostess led us to our table upstairs. She seated us at a very uncomfortable metal table, even though there were plenty of comfortable, unoccupied tables behind us. I asked her if she could move us to a different table. She refused, claiming those tables were reserved, and left with an unpleasant and contemptuous attitude. I dont understand why a woman over 50, a hostess, would behave like a spoiled teenager. It was embarrassing.
30 minutes later, two couples behind us were smoking marijuana, unbelievable in a restaurant! We spoke to a waiter about it, and he confirmed that they allowed cannabis consumption after 11:30 PM every night upstairs. We asked him if he could move us to a different table to get away from them. He readily agreed and seated us... after the hostess had refused our initial request. It turned out the upstairs area was reserved for cannabis smokers. And the hostess had never told us this.
Once seated at our new table upstairs, we ordered appetizers and drinks. 15 minutes later, she brought us our main courses without cutlery, explaining that the cutlery was dirty and in the dishwasher. She asked if we minded using plastic cutlery. We agreed because at that point, wed had enough and just wanted to eat and leave. Before she left, we ordered our last dish because we didnt want to stay any longer.
15 minutes later, she came back and told us that our order couldnt be prepared until midnight. We were there for New Years Eve, but we didnt get to enjoy it because all the festive atmosphere was downstairs. It was the worst New Years Eve wed ever had, a nightmare like wed never experienced before... They only cared about the people downstairs who were paying between $400 and $800 for that shabby place. Thats why Black-owned businesses never last, because they charge exorbitant prices and disrespect their customers.
We will never go back there.
