Im relatively new to this cuisine but have been wanting to try a stew for a while now so got the black-eyed peas stew without meat, fufu, fried plantains and a side salad. Holy moly this place is good! had no idea what to expect but I have never been so grateful for leftovers the next day. Truly a gem in the neighborhood, cant wait to dine-in next time!

I rated this restaurant in a category above a burger joint, but below a steak house. Three stars is what you would expect; not above average, but not poor. We came to Heritage African Restaurant expecting a different dining experience, and we were not disappointed. The menu was full of unique and interesting dishes. They had a full bar, but we decided to stick with non-alcoholic drinks. I had a ginger pineapple juice, which was amazing. I would come back just for this. My partner had a Sene Gambian Long Island, which was also good. Each of these drinks cost $6. We started off with Chicken Fataya, a pastie like dish. They come on a plate of three, and we got two chicken and one seafood. They were quite good, and came with a great dipping sauce. For dinner, I ordered the Dibi Afra Suya, which is grilled lamb. It came with a side of rice, and both grilled and pickled onions. The lamb was bone-in, as I expected it would be. I do have to say, I prefer it boneless. The lamb had very good seasoning, but some of the pieces were tough. Both the grilled and pickled onions were flavorful and both tasted different. My partner got the Tilapia, which was a full fish with both a head and a tail. This made it a bit difficult to eat, and he thought that the meat near the skin was a bit fishy tasting. It came with a very good salsa-like bowl. The total bill after tax but before tip came to $79.07. I will absolutely be coming back, but due to the price compared to the food quality I wont become a regular. I think it was fun for a unique experience and tasting new things. Plus, the ginger pineapple juice.

5 /5 Cheryl Workman: My family and I went to this restaurant to try it out. It was so good. Ive never had African food before and it was phenomenal. Even my grandkids who are picky ate a bite of at least everything. I would highly recommend coming here. It is so good. The wait staff is so sweet and nice and the vibe is awesome. Next time my family and I are in Everett. We plan on coming again .

4 /5 Kathirazhagan Appavoo: A place discovered during a recent search for African cuisine near Everett, this restaurant was a surprising find despite its good reviews and noticeable presence. My friend and I visited around 6 PM on a Friday evening and were the sole diners at the time in the spacious establishment. Parking is street-only, so plan accordingly. Inside, the restaurant is large with ample seating. We started with appetizers: the Fried Plantains were delicious, and the Beef Samosas were also enjoyable. For our main dishes, we tried the Golden Pompano from the Grill, which was good overall but a touch too salty for our preference, and the Dibi Afra/Suya (Grilled Lamb), which was tasty, though some pieces had a fair amount of fat. The house-made drinks were highlights: the Bouye (Baobab Juice) was very good, as was the Ginger Pineapple Juice. Portion sizes here are enormous. One person with a large appetite might finish a plate solo, but sharing is highly recommended. We took our leftovers home and still had enough food for another full meal the next day. Service was efficient and generally "Ok." If youre in the area and looking for flavorful African food with hearty portions, this place definitely falls under the "should go" list.
