Holbrooke Hotel - (Near Grass Valley, CA)

5 /5 Clay Halliday: We came here for my wife’s birthday! We unfortunately did not get to meet any Victorian or early American ghosts. Dang. But regardless we had an amazing time! The place has such a modern yet historical charm. Everything from claw foot tubs to old elevators. And the restaurant and bar are incredible. Get the Brussels sprouts, what the chef does to them I don’t know but they were life changing.

5 /5 Randi Beasley: Fantastic and romantic Christmas Eve at Holbrooke. Our room was gorgeous with authentic brick walls, patio overlooking the town and even a full size Christmas tree! Our burrata appetizer and salmon dinner was fantastic at the Golden Gate Saloon and our server Blair went out of his way to make the experience perfect! Although we enjoyed the Tinsel Tavern’s decor the service was substandard and was the only disappointment of the evening.

5 /5 Julian kerr: It was our first time in Grass Valley, and the Holbrooke lived up to every expectation! The rooms were clean, tastefully decorated, and full of period charm — plus they were refreshed daily. The dining room and bar were beautiful and lively on Friday night, complete with live music! Kim and the entire staff were incredibly helpful and gave us great local recommendations. Augustina and Caitlin were also incredible hosts and truly elevated our dining experience with their warmth and attention to detail. The parking lot is conveniently located just behind the building, which made it easy to come and go during our river day trips. The food was delicious, and the cocktails were perfectly balanced. All in all, a 10/10 stay!

3 /5 Michael McCoy: When we booked the hotel room we were anticipating staying the in main hotel building; however, they put us in the smaller building in the back of the hotel, which does not have the same vibe as the main building. I wish that they would have let us know when we booked the room that we would not be in the main building. The walls were very thin and the ambiance was not the same as the main hotel building. We asked if we could stay in the main building; however they could not accommodate (even though it was our anniversary). The restaurant food, drinks, and service was great. Based on the room and location of the room, I give this hotel 3 stars.

3 /5 Brenda Sears: Lovely Hotel….Read the small print before booking or you’ll get stuck in the outside building. In this building, they control the heat for everyone & you have plenty of noise because of the thin walls including street noise. Bring extension cords if you have medical machines. There is no elevator for this building & none of the rooms have TV’s. In my opinion the antique shower is unsafe for seniors lacking safety bars & the small tub area where you stand is not level. The bar & restaurant was very nice but none of our food was ever hot. Staff was very kind & helpful.
