四姐 Special Noodle - Richmond

Christine Mamuad Every dish was truly fabulous--and we didnt even order any noodles (not deliberately, at least) despite the restaurant name. The clams were tasty, in a flavorful spicy broth with vermicelli (our accidental noodle order). The eggplant with string beans dish was shockingly good considering how simple it is, probably my favorite preparation of eggplant anywhere. The beef rolls had a perfect, balanced combination of thinly sliced beef, onions, and crispy dough. The pan fried pork buns filled with soup were delightful, with a satisfying crunchy base along with soup and pork filling that I could slurp all day. These were larger than I thought theyd be, so prepare to share (or eat them fast) so they dont cool off. Last but not least, the snowflake dumplings with chicken were fantastic all around, boasting a lovely harmony of flavors and textures. Overall would come back again!

Dan Gunter Very much a neighborhood restaurant/diner feel. Awesome western omelette with great potatoes and thick wonderful sourdough toast. My wife had sour cream pancakes that she said were among the best pancakes shes ever had. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. We are from out of state so we will have to wait until the back in the area but we will definitely be coming back.

B King Showed up on a Friday night, it was my birthday and I really wanted a steak and potato dinner. Thankfully no reservation was needed but I could see it being more necessary for more popular seasons. Cute restaurant, like a old house transformed, really only smelled like an old house in the tiny narrow bathrooms Service was absolutely fantastic, everyone we interacted with was so lovely. They all seemed to know everyone who was dining there, we were for sure the out of towners. I had a filet with side salad and baked potato. The vegetable side was well seasoned and cooked well. Basic side dish but done so well I ate them all. The thought that went into making my baked potato ready to scoop out was a small thought but I appreciated it! Even my salad was cold, crispy and crunchy. The bread on the table was delicious. My stake was yummy and loved the jus and mushrooms served with them. Hubs had the prime rib, he said it was one of the best ones he had in a long times he had the clam chowder to start and it was super tasty!!! Glad we had my birthday meal here!

Nancy Herrin Loved it all! The friendly cashier, Ray, to the incredibly delicious food. The char broiled flavor of the meat is like no other. We had the avocado bacon cheese burger which was delicious!!!! I ordered mine without the sauce, I don’t care for any mayonnaise or mayo based products. We had fries and chocolate shake which were full of flavor. Thank you and we’ll be back again. Ray is an asset to your company, he is very engaging, friendly and hospitable, he’s a keeper!

Kato Restaurant - Los Angeles

Rating: 4.5 /5
Andrew Lim Kato by Jon Yao draws on his Taiwanese heritage and upbringing in the San Gabriel Valley to present a tasting menu that is both deeply personal and elegantly modern. The cuisine is rooted in Taiwanese flavors, reinterpreted through the lens of California’s seasonal ingredients and subtle technique. Many of the dishes carry a sense of nostalgia, inspired by Yao’s childhood memories, and each course feels delicate, precise, and intentional. The dining room reflects this balance of refinement and warmth. The modern, industrial-chic space—think wood, concrete, and clean lines—centers around a large open kitchen, where the Kato team works with calm focus and quiet artistry. It’s a space that feels simultaneously intimate and ambitious. At the front of house, General Manager Nikki Reginaldi is a standout presence, bringing genuine warmth, enthusiasm, and poise to every service. The broader team mirrors her professionalism: attentive, polished, and deeply engaged, clearly underscoring Kato’s pursuit of greater excellence and recognition. Guests should note that service pacing is intentionally unhurried and services runs approximately 2.5 to 3 hours for the full experience. The tasting menu sits at the upper end of the fine-dining spectrum ($325 per person), and an 18% operating charge is automatically added to each bill. For those seeking an elegant, meticulously executed dining experience in the ROW DTLA area, Kato stands among the city’s finest. Reservations are essential given its limited seating and consistent demand — but for a meal that thoughtfully bridges cultural roots and contemporary craft, it’s well worth the effort.
