5 /5 Avant Lard Travel - by Houston Porter: This is one of our favorite restaurants in the North Bay and may be the best restaurant in Petaluma.
The food is always excellent, as is the service. Additionally, their drinks are amazing, including quite a few coffee drinks unlike anywhere else in town. (We love that Annette (co-owner) usually has txakolina (a Basque white wine) on the menu, as well as several top quality draft beers.)
And although they arent open for dinner, they do hold special dinners from time to time and chef Brian (co-owner) always does a bang up job with regards to quality and creativity.
Standout dishes for us include the Cassoulet, brisket, meatballs, picnic plates, bocadillo, and braised lamb, but honestly, you can order anything on the menu and it will be great.
It should be noted that this is one of the rare restaurants where the price on the menu is the price youll pay. There is no tipping required because its included in the price, and really, they actually discourage adding anything else to the bill.
