Tacos don Paco - Eureka

Rating: 4.8 /5
Allisen Souza Stopped by the Fortuna location today for a drive by lunch and quickly discovered that we have a new favorite spot for Mexican food. Best ever!! Everyone agreed that the meat and salsa had the tastiest flavor that we have had… it even beat some of the Bay Area bites that we have had recently. Top quality food and friendly quick service was a win for us. Highly recommend the Birra and the Al Pastor!

Pulcinella Ristorante - Newbury Park

Rating: 4.7 /5
Marcelo Bermudez We had dinner at Pulcinella Ristorante in Newbury Park last night, the new spot that took over the former Cedros location. It was a great experience from start to finish. The service was excellent. Attentive, warm, and well-paced without being intrusive. You could tell the staff cared about getting things right, which goes a long way. The food was outstanding. I had the mushroom risotto, rich and well-balanced. My wife ordered the veal scaloppini, which was tender and beautifully prepared. Our kids had the chicken piccata and a seafood pasta dish, and both cleaned their plates, which says everything. What stood out to me is that we’re in a relatively sleepy part of Thousand Oaks, where high-quality restaurants aren’t always easy to find. Pulcinella hits the mark. The menu, execution, and overall experience feel intentional and elevated, without being pretentious. We went as a family this time, but we’ll definitely be back for date night. It’s the kind of neighborhood restaurant you want to support because it raises the bar for what dining out here can be. Highly recommend giving it a visit and supporting a local business that’s clearly doing things right.

Pepes Cafe - Grass Valley

Eric Breakfast burrito - bacon, onion, jalapeno, potato, monterey jack. Perfection. The salsa was pretty mild so it wont overwhelm more sensitive palates. It went well with the burrito above. The onion rings are LEGIT. I would pop in just for an order of those, and I probably will in the future.

La Nena Cantina - Los Angeles

Rating: 4.9 /5
Paul Mark Morris If you’re looking for a standout Mexican dining experience in the heart of Hollywood, you can’t go wrong with La Nena Cantina on Sunset Boulevard. The atmosphere hits just the right balance between lively and approachable — the space sits in the Columbia Square complex (6115 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028) so you’re right in the mix of the entertainment district while still feeling like you’ve found a place worth lingering in. The décor leans modern with a warm, natural-material touch: terracotta tiles, soft lighting, natural fiber accents and an artful mural set the tone for food and drinks that match the vibe. What really makes La Nena Cantina special is the way they take classic Mexican flavors seriously but present them in a modern, elevated way. Their handmade tortillas show up everywhere and you’ll find richly crafted dishes like a mole poblano made with 40+ ingredients and slowly simmered from scratch, or a mole negro from Oaxaca with a smoky depth — these are flavors you don’t often find in a high-style cantina. Tacos dominate the menu in the best way: think slow-cooked pork belly, ceviche selections, a Baja fish taco on blue-corn handmade tortilla with chipotle mayo, crisp cabbage and fresh pico de gallo. There are vegan options too, executed with real care rather than just check-boxes. The bar is no after-thought either. Full of mezcal and tequila choices, with cocktails like the “Adelita” featuring pineapple, cucumber and fresh lime that pair beautifully with the spicy or rich plates. Whether you’re going in for an early-evening drink, weekend brunch or full dinner, it works. For starters the tableside guacamole made fresh is a smart move, and sharing the five-taco tasting is a fun way to explore. The service and energy reflect the neighbourhood well — polished but relaxed, with a patina of Hollywood glamour that doesn’t feel stuffy. In short if you’re in Los Angeles and want a spot that brings both authenticity and design, La Nena Cantina checks the boxes.
