Maria Amaya My husband and I love to try new venues and its food. Have new experiences and we found the Salles cute little restaurant. The food was very good, great customer service. It was the first time there. I loved the history of when it first started. It was very interesting. We will come again. Thank you. (Im a short person and the tables were a little high for me. Thats the only inconvenience i found).

Tim Mathias Great find on State St. Paul our waiter was the best! Nice menu with lots of choices. We sat outside on the sidewalk. There was a quitarist playing nearby and the music was perfect. Not too loud and contributed to the outside experience/ambiance. There are lots of restaurant choices nearby but I highly recommend Opal and Paul. I dont think you will be disappointed!

Jward the Foodie This place is huge. Located in a beautifully restored historic fire station, Mule Car Smokehouse immediately impresses with its airy, open layout, exposed brickwork, and vaulted ceilings  . The casual yet trendy vibe is elevated by leather booths, a stylish full bar, and inviting outdoor patio seating—perfect for relaxed meals or catching Sunday Funday games  . As one visitor remarked, “a spacious, beautifully decorated former fire station” with “original exposed brick work” made the setting truly “stunning” . Mule Car delivers a compelling menu of Texas-style barbecue and Tex‑Mex, featuring standout smoked meats like brisket, pulled pork, tri‑tip, spare ribs, and smoked wings . Spare Ribs: Tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned—an immediate favorite for many  . Brisket: Smoky and flavorful, though a few diners have found varying texture—from melt-in-your-mouth to slightly dry, depending on the cut. Pulled Pork, Smash Burger, Tater Tots & Onion Rings: The pulled pork is savory and satisfying, while the loaded tater tots and crispy onion rings are frequent side hit picks.   Sides & Drinks: Cornbread with honey butter is a crowd-pleaser. Drinks like the Strawberry Smash and Arnold Palmer are often praised for their inventiveness and refreshing quality   On the beverage side, the full bar offers creative cocktails and mocktails—with some hiccups noted in drink consistency Mule Car Smokehouse offers a combination of relaxed, historic ambiance and hearty, flavorful barbecue. Whether savoring spare ribs, loaded tots, or a creative cocktail, you’ll find plenty to enjoy. While service may occasionally lag, the quality of food and warmth of atmosphere make it a repeat-worthy destination.

Marina Wagner Being our first time there we were extremely pleased with everything; service, food, atmosphere. I got the prime rib which was cooked to perfection, just like I ordered, med rare. The loaded sweet potato was yummy, highly suggest. The deep fried cactus blossom was the bomb. Hubby got a rack of ribs which were a little dry. A person came out to welcome us since it was our first time there and gave us a little welcome gift, which was very nice. I let her know the ribs were a little dry just offering feedback, not really trying to get anything out of it especially since we were done eating, and she offered a replacement free rack of ribs to take home. Thats great customer service. We will definitely come back. The app is user friendly and love they have a pickup window outside. I only wish we had a Texas Roadhouse closer to us. Prices are more reasonable and food was excellent.

Tilly N. Fun, touristy spot with generous portions and plenty of shrimp dishes to choose from. The food was tasty and comforting, and the service was friendly and upbeat. The Forrest Gump theme adds to the atmosphere and makes the experience memorable. A nice place to stop by if you’re exploring the area.

Emily Dunmire I love this place! Came here for a happy hour with my girlfriend and we had the best time. The food is incredible, the bbq chicken skewers and the black truffle fries are amazing. Nico even gave us a complimentary manhattan with barrel aged bourbon. Definitely come here on your next night out :)
