Holbrooke Hotel - Grass Valley

Rating: 4.3 /5
Clay Halliday We came here for my wife’s birthday! We unfortunately did not get to meet any Victorian or early American ghosts. Dang. But regardless we had an amazing time! The place has such a modern yet historical charm. Everything from claw foot tubs to old elevators. And the restaurant and bar are incredible. Get the Brussels sprouts, what the chef does to them I don’t know but they were life changing.

Chula Vista Brewery - Chula Vista

Rating: 4.5 /5
Hans Foto Awesome brewery with tons of seating. Its a great spot to hang out with friends and have a well-made beer. The tasting room is very open and inviting. There are TVs where you can catch a game. There is indoor and outdoor seating. If you walk to the back, you can see the brew house, too. The staff was super friendly. This place is a must stop if you are hanging out in the area. Street parking is limited, but more parking is located nearby on the side streets.

The Oak House - Auburn

Stacey Randall Everything was fantastic....food, service, atmosphere. I had the elk loin and my husband has the ribeye. Balsamic vanilla cheesecake for dessert.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - Antioch

Rating: 4.4 /5
Ron C. The food was well made all three times. I have been there. I had the hot wings. They seemed fried, and the sauce stuck well. The four cheese ravioli was very good, and i had the chicken marsala the last time i was there. The sauce was a little thin but loaded with mushrooms. The chicken was very tender. The draft selection leans heavily on ipas. It was not super busy around 3 when I went.

Nicolas Cocina de Herencia - Carmel-By-The-Sea

Rating: 4.3 /5
MARY ALLAG This was hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had — and I live in Los Angeles. Nicolas blows places like Javier’s and La Cha Cha out of the water. The flavors were vibrant, balanced, and genuinely exciting. The prices were incredibly fair for the quality, and the entire staff was lovely. Our server Gina was fantastic, and Chef Andres was so warm and welcoming — he visited every table and made the whole place feel like a family-run gem (which it is). The dishes you cannot miss: the bone marrow elote the birria queso dip the short rib (unreal) The cocktails were excellent, the menu variety was surprising in the best way, and every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. This restaurant would absolutely thrive in LA. We were blown away and already can’t wait to come back.

Focaccia - Fresno

Randall Gillispie We stopped by Focaccia and were blown away by the tri-tip sandwich—absolutely delicious! The flavors were bold and balanced, and the plating was immaculately done, and the fresh fruit was an added treat elevating the whole experience. The owners were incredibly kind and clearly cared deeply about the quality of the food. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the visit feel personal and memorable. Only hiccup: my girlfriend received the wrong salad. Thankfully, it was still tasty, and she didn’t mind the mix-up. The music was a touch loud for our taste, but not enough to distract from the great food and ambiance. Overall, a heartfelt meal with just a couple of minor bumps. A must-stop if you love delicious food and warm service. We’ll definitely be back!
