Gia Lai Restaurant - Modesto

Rating: 4.6 /5
paul tumaliuan This place is, Im gonna say it, the BEST Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto and one of the best restaurants overall. We first came after the Modesto Marathon and we were all pleasantly surprised by the overall taste, portion size, and price. We came here again when we visited Modesto for our parents birthdays. Their pho is, even though we only ordered medium, a large enough portion for my wife and I. We also shared the Vermicelli with grilled chicken and wasnt able to finish either of the dishes. This time I ordered Vermicelli with Grilled beef #39 and my wife ordered Fine Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken #44A. The meats were all perfectly seasoned and tender. My wife keeps talking about how delicious her dish was even the day after. The price for the 6 of us was around $100, how amazing is that? Quality and quantity at an amazing price. Now to give you some perspective, I grew up in Modesto, but we have lived in LA for the past 13 years now. We both agree that this is better than the Vietnamese restaurants weve had in Southern California, and we have had quite a few. Its that good. Its my parents new favorite go to restaurant and even my brothers, who have a deep resentment of all things Modesto, really enjoyed it. If you read through my review, do yourself a favor and just eat here. You wont regret it.

rikki moreno Really nice, attentive staff. Monday night oysters were fresh and delicious. Had 12 raw and 12 broiled. The broiled oysters had a savory finish. Loved the Hibiscus Agua Fresca with cinnamon accent. We will be back for more!

bridget We were in town for a wedding that happened to fall on Mother’s Day weekend. Thankfully, my son and husband had the foresight to make reservations in advance (with a little nudging… wink, wink). They picked the spot, and it was perfect. We sat outside—beautiful weather, stunning bougainvillea, and gorgeous landscaping all around. The staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. The food was exceptionally fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Truly unique spices and combinations. Having moved from the West Coast to the East Coast (native Californians!), it was such a treat to experience the unmatched quality of California produce again—though we’re beyond grateful and happy with our East Coast life. Life is GOOD! Highly recommended. If we’re back in the area, we’ll absolutely be returning!
