Mountain View Cafe at the log cabin - Portola

Rating: 4.3 /5
Paul L New owner seems to be ambitious and have good culinary experience. Food was very good, made on demand, and came out fairly quickly. Had a burger, fish and chips, and Shepards pie. All were excellent! No drinks available now but the owner said it would be 2 weeks before they had a liquor license. Overall really pleasant and I want to see this place succeed.

Arcade Downtown - Riverside

Sheldon R Aesthetic elevated coffee shop that feels more like a fancy brunch spot. The food was delicious. Limited options but good food. Service was very friendly. Even though they were busy they didn’t appear bothered with us taking our time to decide what to order. I wasn’t a big fan of the sparkling matcha. It wasn’t that sweet even with added sweetener. My girlfriend loved it though. The eggs and potatoes were delicious after a 13 mile run. Great carbs. Sparkling matcha w/ mint + sweetener: 4/5 Gibraltar w/ oatmilk and lavender: 4.5/5 Cornbread + Crab Benedict: 4/5 Eggs w/ Potatoes (minus bacon): 4.5/5

Fat of the Land - Santa Ana

Rating: 4.8 /5
Monique E From the moment I walked into Fat of the Land, I felt warmly welcomed. I was greeted personally by the owner, and every staff member was friendly and clearly knowledgeable about the menu. Its obvious that hospitality is a priority here, which made the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. The decor immediately stood out. It’s classy and upscale, yet still inviting and comfortable. It strikes that rare balance between elegance and warmth, making it perfect for a date night or a casual visit for excellent food. The menu may be small, but it is powerful. Every dish has intention, artistry, and flavor that speaks volumes. You can tell each item was thoughtfully crafted with care and purpose. Everything I tried was incredibly fresh, with well-balanced and creative flavor combinations. As someone who had VSG surgery almost a year ago, I have to be very intentional about what I eat. When you can only enjoy a few bites, every bite has to matter. At Fat of the Land, every bite was absolutely worth it. Nothing felt wasted or ordinary- everything was delicious and satisfying. I also don’t drink alcohol, and I was impressed by their selection of non-alcoholic beverages. The French apple cider I tried was especially amazing and felt just as special as any cocktail or glass of wine. I’ll definitely be back. I want to thank the owner and the entire team for being such gracious and passionate hosts. In a time when every dollar counts, it’s important to support restaurants that truly earn your business. Fat of the Land is worth every penny. Not just for the food, but for the genuine care they put into the entire dining experience. They clearly love what they do, and it shows.

Rebecca Fries Amazing good food. This is the shrimp enchiladas (no cheese) so good and so filling. Had to eventually take all the shrimp out of the tortilla because I wanted all the good stuff. Saying that their homemade tortilla as fantastic. 2nd time here...will be regulars

Prairie Fire at the Padre Hotel - Bakersfield

Rating: 5 /5
Bubbles We went here in February. We had an amazing time. Our waiter Charles was super nice. They have a great wine menu. We were able to get a Chateauf De Pop. (Yes I know I probably spelled that wrong.) And their steaks are very tender. We had a wonderful time. We will definitely go again and plan to stay at the Padre Hotel as well.
