1 /5 __: This is a bar that happens to serve food, most of it bartered & fried.
We arrived in Key West late on a Friday night. We were tired & hungry. Unfortunately, as first time visitors we did not really know where to start, and our hotel was not helpful for dining recommendations. So we headed out on foot in search of a late night dinner.
Fogartys seemed like the best easy option in our walking route that wasnt high priced dining, and they had availability, so we we went in.
The food was just ok, what youd expect for a mid tier tourist establishment whose purpose is getting guests drunk, at the level of what I imagine is Applebees, though I confess Ive never been to one.
Though the meal did its job, I do regret the lack of planning in my part, mixed with unfamiliarity of the options, and not going to one of the many fine alternatives not too far away that I learned about in the following days. I suppose I could lay some responsibility on my hotel for not doing their guests well by providing decent recommendations, but Ill give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Overall, if your objective is to have a sugary alcoholic beverage, Fogartys is the place. If for a good meal, Id recommend looking elsewhere.
