5 /5 Ioannis Deliannis: This review is long overdue. The staff is incredible. They are so quick to come to your table if you need anything. The atmosphere is perfect for a group gathering, yet intimate enough for a casual date. And at some point, you can almost guarantee the owner is going to come to your table and thank you for your business, and make sure everything is going great. And he will appreciate any feedback, because he is passionate about his business. It’s an art to him.
So it all seems great and all, like it’s too good to be true. But then you can smell your food before it even comes out. And you know right there, you’re not going to need the salt. I got their steak sandwich on ciabatta with chimichurri. Steak was perfectly rare. Ciabatta bread was phenomenal. The chimichurri was bursting with flavor. And the best part, you can tell they didn’t cut corners. The olive oil in the chimichurri wasn’t cut with seed oils (like most restaurants do).
This place doesn’t treat you like a customer. They treat you like family. From the brother and sister waiters, to the chef peeping out of the kitchen to see if you’re enjoying the food, to the owner that has stories to tell, along with decades of experience in the food industry, who only strives to make it better. It’s restaurants such as Jolie’s that give me hope for a culinary revival in Melbourne. 5 stars, hands down. I wouldn’t even sleep on it. Just make sure there’s a table available for me when I come back!
