River & Fort Restaurant & Roof Top Lounge -Food CA (Near St. Augustine)

5 /5 M: Very nice restaurant and our food was quite good! I really enjoyed the crab claws and French onion soup, and my husband enjoyed the calamari. We enjoyed our drinks & my gunpowder and guava drink was super pretty. We did book ahead of time (8 hours or so) to be seated outside, but were told it was unavailable which was disappointing, but we were still sat by a large window and got to see outside which was nice. Our server was very kind and helpful, and though our dinner was quite pricey (200$+) it was a very nice experience and I will always remember coming here on our trip & recommended it to my mother and father in law who also came here on their st Augustine trip !

5 /5 Jessica Fritz: 10 out of 10!! We had the best dinner! Came here for my birthday with my husband and I can’t say enough good things about the food, service, and waitstaff! Our server was awesome about giving us time to ponder over drinks and the menu, we started with the calamari and it was perfect, I loved the fried peppers that came with it! I had the French dip with fried and my husband had the ocean platter - we both agreed everything was amazing, we had the espresso martinis and hummingbird cake for dessert ( I highly recommend) it was like banana nut bread as a cake!! I loved the relaxed vibe along with the high end feel, nothing felt rushed like they were trying to flip tables and we were just able to relax and take our time! Next time we are in St. Augustine we will 100% be back!!

1 /5 Mackenzi Steele: If you go, go for the experience, but consider eating elsewhere first. After hearing nothing but fantastic reviews from google and from trusted family and friends, this place really truly disappointed both my husband and I! The atmosphere, presentation and service were lovely but the food itself was disappointing and honestly unacceptable. The stuffed NY strip w shrimp and Boursin was nothing special and felt like a pre-made dinner from the Publix ready-to-cook section. The included sides however were terrible. The Parmesan risotto tasted like overcooked white rice that turned into wet unflavored bland mush sitting in the dish drain for days and for whatever reason the recommended vegetable option was an Asian style stir-fry that not only wasn’t compatible (soy sauce + parm??) with the flavor palate (or lack there-of) of the rest of the meal but was also cold to the touch. I had the better meal out of my husband and I and I won’t even speak on his behalf about how awful his meal was. I’m not typically one to complain and will give credit where it is due, the staff was very pleasant and considering how busy it was for night of lights the wait time was absolutely not bad at all. The decor is tasteful and the building is in a perfect location with a very nice view of the water and fort. I’m not a picky person at all, not fancy or rich and don’t go out to restaurants like this often. When it’s time to celebrate or splurge and I’m ready to spend a hefty amount, I do have the expectation of experiencing something elevated and something that I wouldn’t be able to recreate on my own. This place didn’t live up to those standards and I assure you I am no chef. *To be completely translucent I scarfed it all down anyways bc we waited a while and were starving so I suppose it wasn’t inedible, but neither is McDonald’s technically*

5 /5 Joe Zuela: Dropped our son off at college and I needed to distract my wife from feeling sad. We stopped here and the food and drinks were amazing. We got the empanadas deviled eggs and fried calamari. The deviled eggs were outstanding. The empanadas were crispy and the beef filling was excellent. The fried calamari was so good it should win awards. The service was excellent I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of the waiter he was excellent and made recommendations as to what we ordered. I had a couple of classic mojitos and my wife had a sangria and a Diet Coke. The sangria was very good. If you have the time and are in st Augustine I definitely recommend you visit the River & fort restaurant and roof top lounge really great place and great views of the water from the roof top lounge.

5 /5 Carla: We were here during nights of lights and man o man were the out of towners being so mean to the staff. It was very busy. Our wait was 30-45min. We were totally fine with that being that we could walk around the Castillo in the meantime. Shame on other customers berating the staff btw. Anyways once we got our table our waitress was amazing, and the food was good. Pretty in presentation and certainly tasty but nothing mind blowing. Still was a great experience!
