Swordfish Grill - (Near Cortez, FL)

5 /5 Jim Riesterer: I was a bit apprehensive driving down a sketchy road into a sea port for fishing then you come around the bend and see this amazing place. Perched literally on the water and adjacent to a seafood packing facility, this large restaurant with both indoor and waterside seating blew me away. We ordered the blackened grouper sandwich (a staple at every Florida seafood spot) and this one definitely set the standard against which all future ones we try will have to beat (not likely). Definitely one of the freshest and tastiest I’ve had. While service was a bit leisurely (took a while to get the check), the food and atmosphere made waiting no big deal. Our table looked out on a mass of pelicans waiting for seafood scraps next door. They do take online reservations and in season these would be a must.

5 /5 Cathy Steinbuck: This place is a local gem. Set back in a marina / fishing boat charter area. They bring in their own fresh caught fish. Nice ambiance and views of the water. Indoor, outdoor covered and bar seating available. Service was great, thank you Cindy for making us feel so welcomed. The food was very good, and ooh lala the key lime pie was wonderful. We will definitely be back, maybe even on this trip!

5 /5 Karl Leibensperger: This is going to become a favorite go-to of ours! You can beat the setting on the water where you can watch the sun retreat in the evening, the beers were cold and kept coming, and the whole fried snapper was as good as Ive had anywhere in the world, if a bit more expensive. We drove over an hour and still made reservations for the following week after this initial visit.

5 /5 Denson Family Outdoors: Amazing service and amazing food. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the seafood castle, zesty potato bombs, bacon chicken Alfredo, lobster mac and cheese, and frutti do mare. ALL delicious!! Kimi N. Was our server and you should request her… amazing service, best we have had on the island!

2 /5 Agirl4God: The hostess was friendly and sat us promptly. This was our first time here. We were trying it out for my birthday. Then the wait began. We sat for 5 almost 6 minutes before we were greeted. This occurred only after another couple was sat next to us and was promptly greeted. My husband stated, well I guess we are invisible. I responded, yes I guess so, after waiting 5 almost 6 minutes and nobody has been to our table. The server Kimmi N. Came over and asked us how we were doing. I expressed to her we would be doing better if we had not been waiting for 5 almost 6 minutes without being greeted. Her response was, that’s why she came over. She stated that she noticed nobody had been to our table. As a server, this means, we were her table, or there is not teamwork at this restaurant ( communication). Which I’m not sure is the case. She brought our drinks and ordered our appetizer. Our appetizer ( calamari ) was delivered , and was cooked to perfection. We ate some of it, then chose to walk 3 tables over by the bar and get a few pictures. 2-3 minutes tops. When we returned to our table, it had been cleared! Seriously! We wait for almost 6 minutes to be greeted, but leave the table for 2 possibly 3 minutes and our table is cleared with our food. Not a great experience! So when Kimmi N. Returns in sight, we flag her down and point to our empty table. She states, oh no they cleared your table! And I told them not to. She then gets us new drinks and tells us that she will order our calamari to go if we want. As we were ordering our food, I ask her if they did anything for birthdays. Her response was yes, a slice of Keylime pie. I asked my husband if he would split it with me and he said yes, so then we agreed on that. When our food was delivered by a gentleman, he asked if there were anything else he could get us. My husband responded yes silverware. They cleared our table and took everything while we were taking pictures. The look on his face was surprised. So he brought our silverware. The food was cooked perfect. If it were not for the lack of service and the clearing of our table, perhaps this would have been a great birthday for me. The view was perfect. The music was great and the food was wonderful. The rest of it was just unbelievable if We had not witnessed it ourselves, It’s just laughable. Kimmi N. was friendly and accommodating once she got there, but that experience like we didn’t even exist, and it being my birthday was just unbelievable. We will give your restaurant another try, we always do just in case it was just a bad day.
