The French Pantry - St. Augustine - (Near St. Augustine, FL)

5 /5 Matt M: I have always been a big fan of the French Pantry at its Power’s Avenue location in Jacksonville. The vibe was always cool, where you are dining with people you don’t know and even seeing the occasional celebrity on a visit. The St Augustine version is very very different, more like a traditional restaurant, so without the first location’s quirks. First, I need to tell you that this is a very different location, it features: - full bar - dinner hours (open till 8:00 PM) - a private dining room - cooking classes - dinner menu - a beautiful and large dining room. Second, the things you found great at the original location: - fabulous desserts - bang bang shrimp - bruschetta in all shapes and sizes - all your favorites But you want to read about the food, not my comparison of the two locations: Beer - good selection of beer and wine, we tried the Intuition Beer that is so popular in this area. It did lot disappoint. Truffle Fries - thinly sliced, served with a delicious homemade aoli. French Onion Soup - traditional presentation, but a slightly sweeter finish. I did not love it, but the cheese and bread were delicious. Bang Bang Shrimp Po Boy - delicious presentation, perfectly cooked shrimp, really delicious. Chicken Pesto Pannini - this was very dry, and I really think I was missing the pesto, so I used the aoli I mentioned earlier. Presentation and the dryness just did not impress me. Oatmeal Cookie - I love a good oatmeal cookie, and this was good. Wedding Cake - another delicious choice. I have to say I favor the original location, mostly because I hate change. But the fact that they serve alcohol, are open for dinner and have cooking classes, this is French Pantry 2.0x

5 /5 EV TOWN: Took my son here for his birthday and loved the ambiance and being in Saint Augustine. The food is just as amazing as the Jacksonville Restaurant. We had the Turkey Gouda sandwich, Chicken Panini, Bang bang, shrimp as appetizer, bang bang shrimp salad, & Kobe burger. Great service and our waiter had excellent recommendations. Lots of flavors and does not disappoint. Best part was dessert. You have to get the wedding cake and carrot cake they are delicious.

Every dish feels like a celebration, full of flavor and care. The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel truly welcome from the moment you walk in. An absolute gem — one of the best spots in the city. Highly recommend!

5 /5 Lori Keating: Had a great lunch here today! Beautiful interior and lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent as were all the dishes we had! We had bang bang shrimp, bruschetta, French onion soup, pork buns, and rice noodles with chicken. We sat in one of the middle tables by the bar so we could order from the French or Vietnamese menus. Loved it all!

5 /5 Blair Witkowski: If there’s a short list of places you must eat when visiting St. Augustine, The French Pantry belongs on it, no debate. I don’t throw around phrases like “out of this world” lightly, especially when it comes to food, but this place earned it from the first bite to the last forkful of dessert. What surprised me right away is that The French Pantry is essentially two restaurants in one. You walk in expecting one experience and realize there’s more depth to the operation than you initially thought. That complexity shows up on the plate. Every course felt intentional, nothing rushed, nothing phoned in. From the appetizers to the main dishes, the food consistently delivered. And then there was the wedding cake dessert, which was genuinely outstanding, the kind of dessert that makes the table go quiet for a moment. That rarely happens anymore, but it did here. Service deserves credit too. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being performative. Prices felt more than fair considering the quality, which is not something I say often in tourist heavy cities. Parking in St. Augustine can be a nightmare, but The French Pantry makes it easier with parking in the back, which alone earns bonus points. Yes, there are paid lots across the street, but they’re often full. Having a real alternative matters. We were in town for Night of Lights, and dinner here capped off an already great weekend perfectly. It’s ideal for friends, family, and it’s genuinely romantic without trying too hard. This is the kind of restaurant you remember after the trip ends. And that says everything.
