Compas Mexican Grill & Cantina - (Near St Marys, GA)

2 /5 Katie Sturdivant: To start, I should not feel the need to wipe my shoes off on the gravel outside to make them feel clean when walking out of a restaurant. That itself is ridiculous. The front is clean-ish. We were set in the side room to the left with the bathroom and the entire room was sticky. Back towards the bathroom was even worse, the bathrooms been the absolute stickiest. Our food was sub par. The cheese in my quesidilla wasnt even melted, the rice was undercooked and hard as well. My husbands burrito tasted off too. Our server was good. She checked on us frequently, got my meal comped, and continued to be nice even after I made some complaints. She was the best part of our experience though. Cuz I will say our drinks were never empty. But the waitress being nice shouldnt be the only part I liked about my experience.

3 /5 Clayton M: Surprisingly good! The chips were hot, crisp, and delicious. Salsa a little too liquidy for me. I like it fresh and dicey. Overall the chips were great, I had to restrain myself to stop eating it all. My supreme chicken burrito was pretty good. Chicken season well. Loaded with stuff. I needed more heat. I can see myself returning, but will sit at the bar next time. I just want quick bite then bounce.

3 /5 Holly McMillan: I went during lunch time so around 3pm. It was definitely empty its expected for a Wednesday. I sat at the bar and had decent service and then looked at the overhead. Filthy, dust everywhere. Ive eaten at som crazy spots but I was too far in. Food was ok. However I witness someone ordering ribs and they were completely under cooked. The server was adamant in not letting the chef know it wasnt completely cook and decided not to comp the meal. The chef offered to throw the ribs back in the oven. ... they needed at least 2 more hours! Definitely needs better service and needs to be cleaned. Im sure I wont be returning.

5 /5 Tristana Hernandez: Everything about this place was on point. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The portions were more than enough. The staff was amazing. Our server was so great with the kids. On our way out the door one of my littles spilled an entire glass of pop. I was so frustrated. She didnt miss a beat. She came right over with napkins. When I apologized, her response was its not a big deal. These things happen. She helped clean up the mess with a smile. I wish I knew here name she was so awesome!! Thank you for your service. Its always nice to encounter people who actually enjoy there job.

3 /5 Jean V: Ive been to Compas before, and the food was good, but this time it was sub par. The cook could use a few tips. The service was wonderful though, and I would still probably come back when Im craving Mexican. The ambiance is a small, family-style, restaurant, with lots of wood furniture. We went there for an early dinner and there was no wait. We were seated immediately, and our server Amanda was friendly and attentive the whole time. She constantly checked on us and refilled drinks without us having to ask. We were brought out chips & salsa almost immediately after being seated. The chips were very fresh and the queso and salsa dip were tasty. I ordered the quesabirria, which came with consume. The beef was very tender and juicy, but there was barely any cheese and the taco could have been fried a bit more in my opinion. The consume was standard. My mom ordered the steak, chicken, and chorizo plate that came with rice. She complained that it was too salty, but instead of sending it back she tried to put lots of lemon juice on the meats to be able to eat it. She did end up telling our server Amanda, who was kind enough to remove it from the bill. Amanda apologized and explained that there was a new chef working that night. The sweet tea was fresh and good. Although our food was mid this trip, Ive had some good dishes at Compas before and would still come back to give them a try.
