Downtown Cafe - (Near Hartwell, GA)

Mark Elliott Miller, MPH When driving home from Savannah to Broxton, GA, my wife and I happened to find this really great BBQ place. The young cashier was very sweet as my spouse had just been released from the hospital after an involved surgery and was moving slow. This was also her first real meal after no food for a couple of days and a hospital breakfast that morning. We ordered two “specials” that included generously-stuffed pulled pork sandwiches mixed with a delicious, slightly spicy sauce. Our side was potato salad and it was cold and creamy. For $9.99 each (including iced tea), it was a great price. We definitely hope to be back in the future.

Jason Latendresse Came in over the weekend with my family. Our waitress Heather was the absolute best! She was very attentive and personable and just made us feel like we were family. Not to mention yall were rather busy at the time we were there but she never missed a beat and kept a very happy and bubbly spirit about her! My kids absolutely loved her as well. And the food was perfect as well. We will definitely be coming back soon.

JC Our server was good. Not great. Forgot to bring my drink refill; had to ask for it. Loved the Halloween theme going on. Didn’t have to wait for food. Shrimp spaghetti carbonara was amazing! I recommend this place. Will return and recommend.

Joseph Neubecker Great local bbq place. Got the brisket sandwich, wings, and half chicken. Brisket was tremendous , Chicken was super juicy. Bacon was the sleeper item. Highly recommend

Hayden Mock I’m sorry to have to post this but the new young staff at Surcheros are not good at customer service. I have watched one of the ladies which I believe to be a manager, bully the newcomers. They get an attitude and run out of things and don’t even try to restock if it’s close to closing time. It’s truly sad.

Khandi Crawford The assistant manager tonight (10/14/25) and her crew really exemplified great customer service that is so often lacking these days. I wanted to commend them because just small, seemingly insignificant acts of kindness can be the only bright spot someone experiences. Thank you to this team for being that bright spot and for serving a menu item that was fresh and not thrown together and served.
