4 /5 Lydia: St. James was overall a good experience with a beautiful interior and outdoor seating. There was a short wait to be greeted and the back room where we were seated was extremely cold. Our server was very kind and somehow it was the best Diet Coke I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
For starters, we tried the deviled eggs (a noticeable pickle-juice flavor in the filling which might not be for everyone), calamari (borderline flavorful/salty batter), and sticky ribs (a bit overhyped and fairly average compared to reviews).
For the main dishes, we ordered the filet, which was incredible and very tender, and the wagyu burger, which was excellent, almost like a real-life Krabby Patty. The fries were also very good. Our only issue was the wait time, as our plates took about 45 minutes to arrive and tables seated after us were served before we were.
One note on the atmosphere, the tables are very close together and being the only people of color there at the time, we did feel a bit out of place and slightly uncomfortable.
Great food and service overall, with some room to improve on timing and comfort.
