5 /5 Carl Graddy: $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon On Draft and a Cheeseburger:
A Road Trip to Kewanee, Illinois
During my recent stay in Morton, IL, I took a 50-mile trip North to Kewanee for lunch and discovered a gem: a bar thats been serving since 1898, with $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon drafts and delicious burgers.
Kewanee, a quaint town with a population of about 12,500, is known for its agricultural roots and baseball history. It was also home to the Kewanee Boiler Corporation for over a century.
Cernos Bar & Grill, in downtown, is a must-visit. One of the oldest bars in Central Illinois, it features an epic 50-foot mahogany bar imported from Belgium by the Pabst Brewing Company after the Chicago Worlds Fair. The bar with hand-carved figurines made of wood and original brass fixtures, and the ambiance takes you straight back to the early 1900s.
Though not a "tied-house", Cerno’s proudly serves $1 PBR drafts all day, every day. The menu is impressive, with daily and weekly specials. I enjoyed the PBR Burger—a deep-fried creation with pepper jack cheese and Sriracha cream sauce, served with crispy fries.
Everything from the food to the service was exceptional. I cant wait to return for another round of that ice-cold $1 PBR on draft and more delicious food.
If you find yourself in Central Illinois, make sure to stop by Cerno’s Bar & Grill.
