Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - (Near Mattoon, IL)

3 /5 Gio G: First time in town, so we wanna to have breakfast here, good food but a little disappointing they didnt have steaks that day, otherwise Id probably have given them 5 stars. Good service, good ambiance, I love the store at the entrance.

1 /5 Norman Parkman: Disappointingly slow service all around. Overcooked baked potato and merely warm fries. In a giant empty room we were seated directly next to another couple. Yes, I understand zones, but not one table spacing between? You get two stars because I recognize that the experience could have been worse, but not by much.

2 /5 Patti Balestrieri: Cant wait to get south to eat at Cracker Barrel but I had my first disappointment with chunky room temp grits and dried up pucks for sausage. Pancakes were dark brown and tough. I’ve never had a meal there that was bad until this one. New cook maybe?

5 /5 mark borries: Service was great as always. Cracker Barrel is one of our comfort food places.When ever we need to sit back and relax and enjoy a good meal this is one of our top choices. The food is always good, doesnt mater.if we are in the mood for breakfast or dinner or just a quick lunch they can do it. This time we happened to come on Friday so I Had to have my fish fry. Not a religious observance, just a taste choice. My wife had her favorite grilled chicken tenders. Everything was great.

1 /5 Diane Tapp: My family visited the Cracker Barrel in Mattoon, IL in the early evening. We had a party of 10, including 5 children, ages 14 to 3 months. We were seated quickly however we sat and we sat, getting our orders taken approximately 1 hour after being seated. The staff approached us a couple of times and explained that they had several wait staff personnel that were late to work. Thats understandable and uncontrollable by the restaurant. However, while we waited, 3 parties that had been seated after us had their orders taken and their food delivered. The orders were filled correctly and the food was generally good. After we paid, the server for our table did give us a coupon for a free appetizer on our next visit. While nice, it hardly makes up for having 5 children wait over an hour for food (yes, they have short attention spans and tire easily). We will certainly omit Cracker Barrel from consideration next time we dine with a large group. We spent approximately $200 for out meal and considering how long we waited, the $8 coupon didnt make a dent in our stress and disappointment. Thank you for your attention.
