3 /5 Adam Wold: As someone who grew up going to the former location of Colonial Cafe, my opinions on Syrup in St. Charles had been reserved for quite some time. I’ve been many times since their opening, and I’ve been impressed with the quality of the food. Although nothing outside the box, their menu has many tried and true options, ranging from the millionaire’s bacon to some classic benedicts.
I only have one complaint about this location, and It’s not at fault of the staff: the volume. Due to the remodeling that took place, it’s hard to find a seating location in the resturaunt where it would be easy to have a conversation with those around you. Even on a slow day, noise was measured in excess of 95 decibles, which is a bit much. This could absolutely be just my own personal experience, and is nothing more than a small facet of a more-enjoyable larger picture.
