Fat Edds Roadhouse - (Near Metropolis, IL)

3 /5 Emory & Joni Anderson: We actively sought this place out, driving about 3 hours to try it. It wasnt horrible. Would return but order different food. Atmosphere was pretty laid back, it was a Saturday night so it was loud but we were still able to converse. Walk in, order food at the counter, order drinks at your table which is unique. I ordered some peel & eat shrimp which is served immediately while you wait for the rest of your food which I appreciated and they are very good sized which I also appreciated. Hubby DEMOLISHED the buffalo chicken sandwich! My cheeseburger didnt standout but the chili on our chili cheese fries was absolutely disgusting! Our waitress was pleasant but appeared to be stretched thin as it took her a bit to come get our drink orders initially and circle back around for refills and to pay the tab. Overall, wouldnt discourage anyone from going, again, would try them again ourselves but felt slightly let down somehow.

5 /5 Lisa McCluskey: Burgers are just one of the stars of the show at Fat Edds. grilled to order out in the open, it’s fun to watch them make their magic. But it’s hard to resist the pull of the mounds of peel and eat shrimp! Lots of seating inside and an outside patio to accommodate groups of every size. The deep fried mushrooms were huge, with a crusty breading and succulent on the inside. I had the Black and Blu burger with blue cheese crumbles and Swiss Cheese for $8.25. It was grilled to perfection and had huge blu cheese crumbles. Service is order at the counter and pick up yourself, but the staff does an excellent job of making sure drinks remain filled. Would return again and again.

5 /5 Milton Anderson: I’m really glad we went a bit off our path home to stop in Metropolis. The restaurant was fantastic. We had peel and eat shrimp, wings, and a giant bowl of chili. It was a little different ordering your food at the counter, then drinks after you found your seats. However, it worked great. Very cool place, I would definitely recommend stopping in Metropolis and giving it a try.

4 /5 My2020View: You dont pay for soda drinks here and the atmosphere is wonderful as a football fan. Also, the prices are very reasonable . I wanted to start with the most positive points first. With that being said. After we got our drinks the waitress never came back to ask if we need refills so that why the service was not up to par in my book. I ordered the peppercorn chicken club and it was disappointing. The chicken was cold and the bun was hard. But hey, on a side note you get to add your own pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. I saw a manager maintaining the restaurant but never visiting tables talking to the customers. Ill definitely be skipping this dive next time Im in the area. Sorry Fat Edds not a pleasant experience.

5 /5 Marie Dana (WI - MN - TN): So much more than a fast casual barbecue joint. Their peel-n-eat shrimp are served immediately and make the perfect appetizer. We had a long wait and were able to get a beer at the bar while we moved through the line. And their food was amazing, from their chicken to their hot dogs!
