Sycamore Parkway Restaurant - Sycamore
Kara A My family had a wonderful experience at Parkway Restaurant yesterday evening. We arrived around 4:30–5pm on a Saturday—just before the rush—and were warmly greeted by a kind bearded gentleman who happily gave us the booth we wanted.
The place felt clean, from the tables to the window sills to the blinds (even the women’s bathroom). We sat near the kitchen, which was pleasantly calm and not noisy like at some diners.
Our server, a friendly young woman with blonde hair, was attentive and knew the menu well. Food arrived quickly and piping hot. I ordered the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich—exactly the classic I’d been craving: dark gravy, instant mashed potatoes, Wonder bread, and perfectly thin roast beef. Pure 1980s small-town nostalgia!
My husband’s fried seafood platter was so good he kept insisting I try it, and everything—from the fish to the crinkle fries—had that old-school flavor. My son said his hamburger was one of the best he’s ever had.
Even on an off day, I’d happily eat at Parkway again. Great service, delicious comfort food, and a nostalgic diner feel. What a cherished experience considering all the chain restaurants we are forced to eat at these days!
