They’re an Illinois staple that recently opened a location in Kennesaw, Georgia, and Chicago natives were thrilled to get a taste of home. Folks unfamiliar with Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef, on the other hand, were busy complaining about the “wet” sandwiches. Some people just don’t get it. Funny thing is, I was driving through Illinois when I spotted a Portillo’s sign for the first time ever and decided to stop. Best decision. The woman who helped me—didn’t catch her name—was super friendly and walked me through the menu. I ordered a croissant sandwich, added hot peppers, and got the gravy on the side. Baby… heaven. And the French fries? They took me straight back to childhood. They actually tasted real. I even downloaded the app, though I missed the cutoff for the free fries—my bad. Still worth it. The restaurant itself was a whole vibe, from the décor to the energy. And let me tell you, the real surprise hit in the restroom: spotless, and it smelled fruity—like cherries. Yes, that matters. Janet Todd This was our first time there and we ordered for carryout. We had drinks there while we waited. The waiter was busy but very polite and helpful. Answered all of our questions(and we had a lot☺️) The food was fantastic and the portions are huge. We ordered the Papa tenderloin(on special on Thursdays) and the fish dinner. We will definitely be back.

alec berardi First time ive ever been here or even heard of the place. Drove by and it looked old school and cool. Stopped in and service was fast and great! Very friendly. Food was phenomenal! Fries were better than mcdonalds, and burgers remained me of burger king but way better!!! Shake was fantastic!! I’ll definitely be back! Spent $11 for a 1/4 bacon cheeseburger fries and strawberry shake. Great prices for the portions i got.

Laura Rawls Stopped in for some tacos and I got the steak… which were great… nice sides of rice and beans. Easy parking nearby and close to other businesses nearby. Overall, great experience.

Jennifer Stillwell We visit here quite frequently on Sunday nights after church. The main Angelos is not open by the time we get out of church, but Express is. We love the food and Jordan is always great!!
