Lickin My Chicken & Pullin My Pork BBQ - (Near Effingham, IL)

5 /5 Brenda Ferguson: If you’re looking for a unique BBQ joint, look no further! Found this place using google maps as we were just passing through and staying at a hotel nearby. With a business name like theirs, you just have to check it out, right? I will say we had just a little trouble figuring out exactly where it is cause it was dark when we pulled in to the parking lot and the signage wasn’t very visible. We ended up on the opposite side of the building where there’s an entrance into a bar with a passthrough to the restaurant. Come to find out, we didn’t need to drive around the building like we did, but no biggie. Prices are very reasonable and we opted for a half order of the pulled pork nachos, the big pig sandwich, and an order of the garlic cheese curds. OMG, it was soooo gooood! The pork had great flavor and I’m glad I didn’t get the full order cause I had almost more than I could eat. My only complaint is the chips on the bottom got soggy cause the pork was so juicy, but it was still delicious. You can sub out the chips for fries for a $1 upcharge, so I may do that next time. My husband’s sandwich was huge, and the cheese curds were great. This place will definitely be on our stop again list whenever we’re traveling through! Oh, I almost forgot—they even turned the Michigan v. MI State football game on for me when I asked!

5 /5 JOE HART: Great food and great service stopped in on a business trip. Just as I got there, the pitmaster was taken off the pork butt and the brisket so I definitely couldn’t decide Had to grab one of each. He also recommended trying the potato salad. It was definitely spot on all the flavors were there. Perfect smoke will definitely be my stop again on my next visit in the area. Also, the bar next-door is attached and they welcome you to bring food next-door to sit down for a meal and enjoy the atmosphere.

5 /5 Ashlee Logemann: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and inviting. The food was incredible — you can truly taste the care and passion that goes into it. What really set this place apart was the personal touch. One of the guys who works there came out and talked with us about the business, the food, and how it all started as a food truck before becoming what it is today. That kind of connection means so much. He even sent us home with a few things to try, which was such a thoughtful gesture. This was our first time here, but it definitely won’t be our last. We will absolutely be back — and honestly, we can’t wait!

5 /5 Kendra Courson: Had to come leave a review specifically to shout out the owner/ crew. When I was walking up a guy at the grill way across the parking lot was yelling “thank you for coming” to customers leaving. I ordered pulled pork nachos and got a bottle of their rub. I waited a whole 3-4 mins for my to-go order. And when I was handed my order I got actual eye contact followed by “thank you and a we appreciate you stopping by” that was genuine vs a repetitive phrase they were expected to say. Just stuck out to me as a place that actually really appreciates each and every customer.

5 /5 Heather Grover: Outside, especially in the dark, this place does not look like a place you would want to eat at. Bring children..nope! Thought my husband was crazy. I was wrong! Great pulled pork. My daughter said her cheese burger was delicious. The cashier guy was patient while we tried to figure out what to order. They have Coke products...including Pibb Xtra and Mellow Yellow. The bathrooms were VERY clean (long hallway to get there...) It is a Family friendly restaurant that is hidden from the main road. Thank you for the experience!
