The Nest - (Near Newton, IL)

Lost 2 Seemingly hidden within a very nondescript building with virtually no signage is this gem of a restaurant (as well as a shop geared towards supporting the boating community) on this popular and highly attractive lake. Even after seeing it on this app, I was questioning whether I was in the correct location and was hesitant to even go in the building. Was this some sort of prank? With so many private marinas in other locations, on other lakes, that make a point of dissuading non members from visiting, it took a little while but I finally decided to step inside. Best decision that I’ve made in some time! I ordered the shrimp tacos and was very impressed! The amount of ingredients and the way that the flavors came together was absolutely wonderful! (If I could offer one suggestion though… without changing anything about the ingredients (either type or quantity) it would have been much easier to eat if the tortillas were slightly bigger! The taco’s were so stuffed that those ingredients kept falling out of the tortillas as I attempted to eat them! Also… I anticipate happily returning for another visit but would also suggest that they may draw more customers if there was something on (or around) the building as to what awaited them inside!)

Kathy W Tried the Steak Tacos and the Chicken Tacos, Mexican style. You get 2 tacos in an order. They were both delicious! And stuffed full of meat. The red sauce is super hot, if you like Hot. The green sauce is mild and really tasty. Washed em down with a Mexican Coke, in a glass bottle, good ole fashioned Coke taste!

Remote Hog Shellys Burger Station is a true gem for downtown Vandalia. a small yet great little diner. The prices are great, the staff are awesome, and the food is stellar. Anytime I get the chance I pop in and have a meal that takes me back to my youth. To a time when diners were all about the food and the people. A time before fast food even became a thing. A time when you could actually afford to eat out without having to worry about paying other bills. This place is as close to that feeling as Ive been since right out of college. Thanks Shelly Ledbetter for bringing back that feeling for myself and many others. Do yourself a favor Google this place and check out their food. You will not be disappointed, I know I have never been.

Anna Lane We had the BEST time celebrating a 1 year olds birthday with family (party of 10 adults and 1 child). Service was incredible—McKenna was quick on requests and went above and beyond with recommendations and a little slice of cake and a candle for the birthday girl. McKenna recommended several drinks and entrees—all were 10/10. The bacon pasta, the fish entrees, the apps….i can’t say enough good things about our experience. All the food was fresh, hot, and so delicious. Cocktails and mocktails were so good. The pierogis were a favorite for everyone. We did make reservations a week in advance.

kero poles Food , service and atmosphere were great. I feel like I was at a very luxury restaurant that has a delicious amazing food combining with a professional customer service. Thank you Losy and Tony over there for your contagious laugh and and wonderful smile. Definitely will be my place for a quick bite
