The Ribeye - (Near Champaign, IL)

4 /5 Joan Brown: Delicious food - I would give 5 stars if the service were stronger. During a non-busy dinner hour, it took very long to order, get the waitress’s attention, get the bill, pay, etc. I ordered the chicken with a baked potato and salad bar. I love salad bars and was very pleased with this one! If anything, I just wish the egg were sliced instead of grated but that’s personal preference. The beets were nice and tart, much better than other salad bars. Great selection of options for salad lovers. The bread that came with the meal was nice and fluffy. The chicken was a large portion size and tasted amazing! Highly recommend. My husband ordered a steak medium rare and it came out blue, totally uncooked and cold in the middle. We don’t like sending food back but had to, and it returned perfectly medium rare. Two other tables near us had their steaks severely undercooked but I’ve otherwise heard great things about the Ribeye so perhaps it was a rougher night. My husband said the flavor of the steak was good, but because he normally dry brines his steaks he prefers his own. He would probably get the chicken instead next time. Overall, I still will come back because it’s the best salad bar I’ve had around town and I loved the chicken! Between here and Hamilton Walker’s, I’d recommend Ribeye 100% hands down every time.

5 /5 Nora Xiao: This is a great local steakhouse. The steak isnt dry-age or USDA prime but ordering medium rare turns out to be pretty good. The bread is soft and warm. Their Mac n cheese is flavorful (unlike some places in town that serve blend Mac n cheese). Sauteed mushrooms that go with steak are a little bit too salty to eat by themselves, but sometimes I make mistakes and cook saltier dishes. Crab cake are seasoned well too, also flavorful. Shrimp is fresh with a firm texture. Salad bar that comes with the entree is a big plus, many choices in the area are pretty good and flavorful. Service is great, even though we arrive a little later 7:45 while they posted on the door that they stopped taking customers at 7:30, they still seated us. We appreciate that. With 2 cocktails, 1 soda, shrimp cocktail appetizer, 1 steak/chicken combo and a seafood platter ending up to be 170-180. The shrimp cocktail sauce is just regular sauce, nothing too unique. Overall, its a nice steakhouse with good cocktails, great service that Id come back for special occasions.

4 /5 Paula H: We arrived close to 8 and the hostesses were tired and unenthusiastic, and it showed. The place shows a lot of wear and tear inside. They were out of sweet potatoes. The waitress was nice, but now that I am looking at the receipt, I think she overcharged me $2 for the 14 oz prime rib (it was supposed to be $36+(4 oz x $2) =$44, not $46). The prices on their website are lower than at the restaurant ($32 vs $36 for the 10 oz prime rib). The dinner felt expensive for what it was, but not so expensive that I wouldn’t consider giving it another try.
