Newks Eatery - (Near Monroe, LA)

Russell Allanson This place is a staple in the area. They have a wide variety of seafood and ways to prepare it. Steaks are limited but VERY good. Our server, Haley, was super! Her attention and timing were impeccable! It was Monday so you can see from the pictures what we ate! The raw oysters were huge and some of the very best I’ve ever had! (And I live on the Gulf in another state.) Before ordering I confirmed the oysters were local and the shrimp come from the Gulf. (We support our shrimpers!) The broiled shrimp were small but good. The stuffed baked potato had been sitting a little too long but still okay. The fillet was AMAZING! Perfect flavor, and cooked beautifully! The bread pudding was good too. If you’re visiting the area, stop in and enjoy what they do well. If you’re a local, you already know. And while the steak was a little pricey, but worth it, the overall pricing of the menu was very fair.

John Daniel Visited on our last night in LaPlace and were kicking ourselves for not going sooner. It was about 8pm on a Monday evening, so it was slow and mostly empty. We had the sweetest server who did a great job taking care of us. The charbroiled oysters were amazing. I had the crawfish boil, which came with shrimp and crab legs, plus corn, potatoes, and sausage. It was more than I could eat by myself. Makes me wish we had a Fiery Crab up in our part of the country.

Teach H. They have a great lamb shank with rice which is the secret blessing on the menu. The owner is very friendly and detailed with his dishes. Have order the lamb a total of 3 times and each time it has been simply amazing. Thank you 3 times over!!!

Harris Colton “Pokéchamp” Taza is owned by a Greek family who moved to America a bit ago. Its ran by a father, son, and nephew. The food is very authentic and perfectly priced. Not too expensive! Come here if you want a quick gyro or shawarma from a real Greek. The staff is very friendly and doesnt mind chatting. The gyro (not pictured) was balanced well between meat and vegetables and the fries were to die for! The Chicken Kabob Plate (pictured) was a delight. I was very impressed by the chicken itself! Now if only I had their marinade and seasoning recipe for myself... With these two, a water, and tax, the bill came out to be around $35.

Jeremy Gautreau From the atmosphere to service and food are all good. We had a good time at our friends birthday and even had Happy Birthday sang by the band that was performing. This is surely a place for the family or business meeting. They will accommodate many size groups. I suggest a reservation as this location is always busy.
