Aaron Widcamp Me and my two daughters decided to try Tokyo Hot Pot this past Friday. Being new to the “hot pot way of life” the waiter decided to help us out with his knowledge of how to do this. First you can get just the Hibachi dinner as a stand alone meal or you can get the all you can eat hot pot which also includes the sushi menu but not the Hibachi menu. We went with the AYCE Hot Pot because that’s what we came for. We ordered a few sushi rolls before going all in on the hot pot. Suggested cooking times are listed on the booth wall partition so there is no need to use Google while you’re there. Looking at the menu of offerings to put in the Hot Pot we each got different soup base. The mushroom soup was my choice it was very good leaving each of the noodles I opted for very flavorful. It also made each of the veggies and meats great as well. Julie went with the original gold which she also said was very flavorful. I tried her soup base with other things too. In my opinion this is the one soup base of the three we had that could use some soy sauce (which is a table condiment) or something else but I can’t put my finger on what it’s missing. Kel had the Sichuan Hot Soup with a medium heat. I got a taste of it before she added anything to cook and I could tell it had a little bit of heat to it but could have had more. I got so overwhelmed between everything we had ordered that I was full before I could try some ramen or mei fun noodles to see if it kept the heat through out our meal. Of all the meats and veggies we had the one thing I can say is to let the calamari cook for longer than the 4 minutes suggested on the table list. We will definitely be back for some more Tokyo Hot Pot!!
