5 /5 Buck Schott: Im a tough critic when it comes to BBQ, but The Magnolia Pit has left me speechless. This isnt just "good" BBQ, this is next-level.
The brisket is, hands down, the best in the city. No contest. The smoke ring was beautiful, and the flavor from the bark was incredible. Its clear they put serious time and passion into their craft. Mine was a little fatty for my personal preference (I asked for extra lean but Im not sure if thats an option), but the flavor was so out-of-this-world good that it didnt even matter.
And the SIDES! They are honestly the best. The potato salad is awesome and has a great spicy kick, and the coleslaw has a nice kick to it, too. The whole place has a super original atmosphere and vibe. I also really appreciated that they have bottled water as an option, which a lot of places dont.
A quick heads-up: The area is a little sketchy (but for Shreveport, I think thats pretty par for the course). Also, the bathroom situation involves keys, so it must be outside the main restaurant. I didnt check it out, but dont let any of that deter you.
The food is that good. This is my new #1 spot. 10/10, highly recommend!
