The Whistling Kettle - Schenectady

Rating: 4.5 /5
Karen Chadwick-Mello Our first visit to Schenectady brought us here! Really cute restaurant ! We loved everything about it! The street had a bookstore and some shops! Free parking on Saturday as far as we could tell. If the parking app says spot is unavailable it might mean no charges for that day.

Lento Restaurant - Rochester

Rating: 4.5 /5
Nate Rifkin Lento is consistently my fiancées and my favorite restaurant, and I dont think they get nearly enough recognition for how good they are compared to places in the area like Redd, Good Luck, Nosh, Cure, and others. This is one of few places in Rochester where it feels like the chef and team have been given creative license to experiment with new dishes consistently, and it works. Its not easy for a restaurant to have a menu that updates as much as Lentos to be as consistently good as they are. Both their kitchen and table staff are excellent. We have made it a habit to stop by every couple months to try their latest options. Some tips and notes from our visits over the last couple years: - If you like mixed drinks on the sweeter side, try the Lady Marmalade - Order the bread service. Its a few bucks for a square of decadent focaccia sized for two. The focaccia has a different blend of ingredients each time weve come (I think they switch it up daily?), so its fun to see what the nightly variation is. - Their fish dishes are usually spectacular. This latest time we went I ordered the miso black cod (as someone who usually does not go for cod) and it blew me away. The exception to this rule seems to be the fish fry; for some reason the couple times weve ordered it, its come out overcooked. - The "quartino" specials for wine are usually a good blend and come as a glass and a half with a small carafe (I didnt know what a "quartino" was, in case others are in the same boat)

Coal Yard Cafe - Ithaca

Rating: 4.5 /5
The Suave Sultan A super cute cafe in a converted coal office building. They really lean into that heritage and have a lot of cool decorations and furniture that hail back to that era. The coffee and food are both very delicious and the staff are very friendly!

The Cellar Restaurant & Lounge on the River - Owego

Rating: 4.5 /5
Jessica LaChance 10 out of 10 food, service & experience! After myself moving from a larger more populated city it has been difficult to find a full food experience in this region until I found this spot. By far the best salad that I’ve had in the region, great mixologist behind the bar (Jon) and all around friendly staff. And coming from an artist perspective, the decor and ambiance of the space is also a huge win!

Cala Luna Restaurant - Mineola

Rating: 4.7 /5
Luda P Today I went to Cala Luna for late lunch/early dinner with my son and daughter-in-law, and we had a wonderful experience. My daughter and I ordered from the prix fixe menu, while my son chose the Italian burger from the main menu. For my prix fixe meal, I enjoyed potato pierogi as an appetizer, followed by pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and finished with a Napoleon for dessert. My daughter-in-law selected shrimp tempura, organic chicken braised in marsala wine, mushroom-onion, steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes, and tiramisu. I also had a glass of Prosecco. Everything we ordered was delicious - the meat was very juicy, the flavors were balanced, and the desserts, while not overly sweet, simply melted in the mouth. We also appreciated the fresh tap water served throughout the meal. Our waiter, Luciano, was extremely attentive to our needs. The restaurant wasn’t crowded - only two or three tables were occupied - which meant we received excellent, focused service. We visited on a Sunday and found plenty of free parking, though I’m not sure how parking is on other days. The atmosphere was lovely: quiet music, a modern interior, and an overall pleasant environment. It’s a great place to celebrate special moments or simply enjoy lunch with friends. I would gladly recommend Cala Luna to anyone who enjoys Italian cuisine and a comfortable dining experience. Highly recommended - 5 out of 5 stars!

Beachcomber - Conesus

Angela Rogers This place is amazing and the customer service makes it even better. I tried to make a reservation online and technology was not on my side so I ended up calling and spoke with the owner Mary Alice and she was so warm and kind. We chatted like we were old friends. Check in was very easy and the room was perfect for what we needed. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. We also went to the outside bar to have a drink and enjoy the view. Check out was also a breeze, we sent Mary Alice a text letting her know we were checking out and she remembered we were in town for a wedding and asked if we had a good time. All of the staff was very welcoming and treated us like we were regulars. We were able to meet Mary Alice in person and she remembered our chat on the phone. I would recommend if your looking to stay somewhere off the beaten path you definitely check this place out.
