Barrio BX - (Near Bronx, NY)

Prof. John This is my 120 th review. I have driven or walked by 275 dining places on 2 continents. I have visited about 175 establishments. Anyone who has read my reviews knows I try to write in an easily readable format. I try to make fair calls on ratings and realize that it is my feeling alone and only on the item I have decided to try. High class food is not a requirement. Frugality in all things has stood me well. I am fortunate to get a good quantity of views, both in photos and text. Thank you for indulging me in this prelude. Now for #120. A week and a half ago I visited McGearys with some family before a young peoples event at the Palace Theater, an icon of the city which i have also reviewed. We had various items and i decided on a standard bar food, a burger and fries. I get my burger well done so it can be hard not to cook it until it is a hockey puck. The chef did a great job and it was just the way i like it. The fries were standard fries. All in all, it was quite good. I had a beer and it was a short one and it is pleasant to me when establishments have smaller glasses available. The were no complaints from the adults and youngsters. A good time was had by all. Our waitress was Chrissy, in the photo along with Tess, the owner, holding one of the kids artworks. Christy was upbeat, friendly and worked hard to take care of our bigger group, always with style. It was fun talking to Tess, the owner, who always had a smile, also says Al, inside comment. It had been a long while since I was here, and I shall return. I hope this long narrative did not bother any readers.

Nancy Coogan If you love eggplant, this is your spot! Not deep fried with so much breading that you cant taste the eggplant! Sauce is plentiful with the dish, and salad is fresh with an amazing house garlic dressing! My second time here and it did not disappoint!!

K’Sabor Shorty’s is a great place to go and grab a bite. I was working around the area for about 2 weeks, I found the place on google maps since i was looking for a place to get some wings. They didn’t disappoint. I had the “Blazing” wings and the Garlic Parmesan with some tots. Wings had great flavor and they were nice and crispy on the outside but meat was real juicy not dry. Tots were also nice and crispy just how i like em. Waitresses were welcoming and friendly. Overall great experience.

Travel with Andy Wonderful piece of Italy in America! I’m so jealous of New Yorkers that have this gem of a giant marketplace of rich authentic, and rare Italian products (at least rare food in America). Highly recommend their Vino & restaurant. Book ahead for one of the best pizza spots and pastas freshly made daily. Also, by booking you get a GREAT view of the city! I just had the best calzone of my life there. My wife is an Italian and as an Italian speaker myself we both love this place. It’s also often a pleasure to speak Italia to the staff here. We just stopped in for my wife’s birthday, where they even comped us the dessert!

S K We had my daughters baby shower here a short time ago. Food was very good, price very reasonable and service fantastic. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering this place for a party or just an evening out for dinner

Evette Burset Saldana SIMPLY AMAZING! Everything was delicious and the service was on point. We’re from Kong Island, but will definitely visit again! Those pernil alcapurrias and bacalaitos were A+! Also tried the vegan sausage that were great.
