Elena Yee I’ve been wanting to come her for awhile and was finally able to. As much as I was tempted to have a beef burger, I decided to order their veggie burger, and I’m glad I did. It was hearty while also more creamy than crunchy (which I prefer). Some people may think it’s mushy but it worked for me, and the flavor was wonderfully savory. The sweet potatoes wedges were not what I expected at all. They were crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. These were definitely wedges and not fries. I couldn’t even finish them because it was such a generous portion. The interior was fine but because of the set up, it felt strangely cold not cozy. No matter…I was there for the food and it was good!

Truth Talker Shadows on the Hudson is nothing short of extraordinary—truly the crown jewel of Poughkeepsie dining. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with sweeping, unforgettable views and an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and warm. The décor is stunning, the service is consistently exceptional, and the entire experience feels elevated in a way few places can match. While the food can occasionally vary, the overall quality, presentation, and ambiance make every visit memorable. What truly sets Shadows apart is how perfect it is for special occasions. Each corner of the space feels thoughtfully designed, making it an ideal backdrop for celebrations of any kind. I’m incredibly hopeful and excited to host my wedding welcome party in their outdoor event space this summer—it’s the kind of venue that instantly transforms an event into something magical. Overall, Shadows on the Hudson continues to be one of my all-time favorite places. It delivers breathtaking moments, exceptional service, and a level of hospitality that makes every visit feel special. Absolutely spectacular.

R J We were looking for a really good dining experience while staying in the Boonville area not long ago. While the reviews for Boondocks were overwhelmingly positive, we were a little unsure what to expect when we pulled into the parking lot. We decided to take a chance anyway and the result was a truly excellent experience. Even though the restaurant does have a bar, its isolated from the restaurant and dining room and provided us with a quiet dining experience, which we truly appreciated. The woodsy atmosphere of the dining room, complete with "trees", rock formations, a small waterfall, and a stream, is a unique but perfect touch considering the restaurants location. We arrived shortly before 5 PM and we were seated immediately with menus. Our server stopped by shortly after that and took our beverage orders. After reviewing the menu choices, our server returned and took our dinner orders: Chicken Marsala and a full rack of BBQ ribs. Our dinners were served up hot 20 minutes later. The Chicken Marsala was delicious and nicely coated in Marsala sauce, instead of some thin, watery mess like some other restaurants serve up. The BBQ ribs were definitely a full rack. They were cooked perfectly, very tasty, and slid off the bone easily. Perfectly prepared! Both meals were delicious, and portion sizes were more than ample and very filling. I also need to recognize our server, Delaney. She was very personable, engaging, and attentive throughout our entire meal. Exactly the kind of server you hope is serving your next restaurant meal. Our entire visit here was flawless from start to finish. Their menu offers a nice variety of offerings. Our bill for two delicious and filling dinners with beverages totaled a bit over $66 plus tax. We recommended Boondocks to family members visiting this area recently and they had an excellent dining experience here as well. We would definitely recommend Boondocks to others, although I understand that the menu prices may not fit easily with some dining budgets. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

Eve Kuhn Visiting from western NY. The server was very friendly. The menu is large, and the server gave us time to look it over as well as make recommendations. The food was fresh and hot, as well as good portion sizes. The pizza crust is absolutely amazing, and the stuffed chocolate chip cookie was a great way to end dinner. Definitely check it out.

Tim MacEachron Been here time and time again , always been delious. Our server was friendly. He checked up on us to see how my table was doing. The service was fast and the food came out quick. Keep up the good work. I highly recommend coming on it to give this restaurant a try. The desserts are top notch. They are made from scratch in their bakery which is right next to the restaurant. Ill be back.

Frank PolievkaJr This place has it all! The service is spot on! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very casual but still had a hint of church charm! The smoked onions on a burger is a must! I choose the sourdough toast and it was a great choice! Prices are comparable to other local fare but I think the service is top notch! Lastly the cutlery is the best I’ve seen in a restaurant by far!
