Irises Cafe & Wine Bar - (Near Plattsburgh, NY)

5 /5 Peggy Young: The food was good .Was there in the big separate room there was 10 of us.They were short on help for the kitchen. We order our food but took awhile to get our food.It was quite noisy because you could hear the chatter from the other rooms.Most of the people ordered the Bistro steak it was delicious. Some ordered seafood which was good also.The waitress was trying her best .We didnt pay for the dinner. My son in-laws paid for the dinner.

4 /5 TD G: The food was good, I wouldn’t say excellent. The taco appetizer was really good. We purchased a $40 bottle of wine, the waiter brought it out put on a great show but it was really cheap wine, like you can purchase it at the local liquor store for $6. The atmosphere was nice though smells a little musty inside. Service was good, it would have been 5 stars but the waiter never told us the specials, I didn’t even realize there were any until I heard him telling the table next to us after we already ordered, which I probably would have ordered one of them.

5 /5 dylan mader: Came here for a date night with my girlfriend and we loved it. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. It was a nice cozy feel and lucky for us we got a booth which helped give us some privacy to be able to chat and have our time together over a nice dinner. I had a dirty vodka martini with my dinner and it was just how I like it, very dirty but well strained so bits of olive from the brine weren’t floating around in my drink. We started with the truffle fries and a cup of the potato cheddar ale soup. We loved both. My GF is a truffle fry fanatic and thought these were the best ones she’s ever had. Soup is a massive staple of her diet and she thought the soup was silky and flavorful, which I agree with. I had the chef’s bistro steak medium and added red wine Demi glacé and sautéed mushrooms. The whole meal was very flavorful and good sized portion. I thought the steak would be a little thicker but am not complaining at all. The steak was cooked medium as I requested and the red wine sauce was so good. I’m a chef who prides himself on cooking steaks so I know a great steak dinner when I have one. The presentation was nice and straight forward. My GF had the fettuccine Alfredo with veg. She liked it a lot. For dessert we shared a Java-tini and the Chocolate covered Cherry martini with a warmed chocolate bourbon brownie soufflé. All were delicious but I liked the Java-tini better. I can appreciate the presentation of the chocolate Cherry one but I’d have rather the chocolate syrup had been put into the drink and mixed up into it than along the interior of the glass. The soufflé was delicious and plated beautifully. Thank you Irises staff for a great night out with my GF. We will definitely be back and will recommend you to others.
