5 /5 Prof. John: THANK YOU TO WHO EVER GAVE THE HEART REACTION. I WILL PROBABLY NOT GET CREDIT FOR IT. I TRY VERY HARD IN MY REVIEWS. I AM NOT SURE I WILL WRITE ANY MORE. Yesterday, I visited Ryans Wake, with my wife. It is a very neat, expansive restaurant pub. There is a main front bar (photo) and a patio bar (photo). The patio is very nice and surprisingly quiet with a picturesque view of the river and the Green Island Bridge . Our waitress, Erin, was very pleasant, upbeat, and attentive. A couple other waitresses stopped by during our stay. My wife had a Margarita, which she liked. I had my usual, a beer and a diet soda. They had a short beer (12 oz.), which is always a plus for me. We both had burgers, which were very good. My wife likes hers medium and it DID arrive that way. I prefer well done, which it was, while still being moist. (Photo - partially eaten- could not help myself). The entire staff was friendly. Chris Ryan (photo), was a pleasure to meet. He was very cordial and amicable. Ryans Wake has reasonable prices and is worth the trip. We shall return.

5 /5 Jenn Rissler: We had a wonderful high school reunion at this beautiful venue! I had lost a very meaningful earring and they were able to find it and mail it to me in Pennsylvania! Ryan’s Wake went the extra mile in all areas great place!

5 /5 Jeannette Folger: Ryans Wake is a typical college bar; however, it secretly goes far beyond that. They have created a space in the back of their premises that can be reserved for private parties and gives the feel of renting out an entire historic bar for your event. The fees are very reasonable, and the packages are designed to easily do the math in order to price out tickets or figure out your total. The food is exceptional; trendy and flavorful. Nothing weird, but not boring. The packages have multiple options that help you to create a menu that works best for you. The staff is also amazing. Very caring and attentive. Emily was wonderful to work with and AJ is a great bartender with a lot of knowledge. A large container of ice water sits at the end of the bar to help folks stay hydrated while sipping. Drink prices are also very reasonable. In addition, there is a back deck which is accessible to the entire crowd, but it has a great view of the Hudson and the Green Island Bridge all lit up at night. If you are looking for a great venue for your event AND with decent parking options for a downtown location, this is it.

2 /5 Hunter: On December 4th, 2025 a ton of friends got together to celebrate my friend Danielle’s birthday who would’ve turned 21 but passed away three years ago on December 3rd. We all came to ryan’s wake to be together and have a good time but the bartenders were disrespectful and made our experience frustrating. As we walked in at 8pm, we asked if we could sit at a back table to have drinks and the bartender said no you need to be eating. However, the host told us we could as long as we get our drinks at the bar. Then, the mother of our friend that passed ordered 10 shots for us to have a toast to Danielle and told the bartender why we were there. He insisted to bring the shots over because he didn’t want anyone under 21 to be taking any (no one was under 21). As we handed out shots, the bartender said to Danielle’s mom “I’m gonna have to ask you to leave” right after we explained why we are taking these shots because he assumed she handed a shot to someone underage which was not the case. I understand as a bartender you need to be very careful about who you serve, but seeing as she was 21 after he checked the id, it truly ruined the moment. Fast forward to 9:25. Online it says they close at midnight but I assumed 10pm. They flickered the lights at 9:20 and i went up to grab a drink at 9:25 and said “can i have a sun cruiser please” as the bartender looked me directly in the eyes and ignored me instead of saying “we already had last call”. I am very disappointed by this experience especially as someone who comes here frequently on the weekends, and especially given the circumstances. The bartenders need to do better with their interactions and maybe look happy once in a while.

5 /5 Ed Brandman: Stopped in Troy NY on the way home to NJ from skiing at Okemo Mountain in VT. The meal was amazing. Service top notch and great ambiance -lively and fun as you would expect from an Irish pub / tavern. I loaded up the reuben sandwich with corned beef and turkey. Both were hot and delicious on toasted rye.. the chocolate chip cookie lava cake was just wow! This will be a stop on future trips.
