Roccos Ristorante - Pittsburgh

Rating: 4.5 /5
Ryan Weigold I was recently visiting Pittsburgh for a family event and heard about Roccos. Let me tell you..I was by myself, so I sat at the bar with their amazing bartender Jaime. She had so many wonderful suggestions. From the filthy martini to start, to the the wine to the appetizer to entree and dessert. Of course I got all but their beans and greens by far are the best ive ever tasted in my life. I probably wouldnt have ever ordered them without her recommendation, and now cant stop thinking about them. The giant meatball pasta was fantastic and enough for leftovers. The cannoli was also delicious, I liked you got two varieties. Jaime was the perfect introduction to Roccos and I cant wait to go back when I get back to town.

Karen Odell I recently had Grandma Aidas cater a surprise birthday party for my mom. Marie and her husband were wonderful. Delivery was perfect. The food arrived hot and was absolutely delicious.

Olives and Peppers - Greensburg

Rating: 4.6 /5
James Tony Olives & Peppers is a must-try in Greensburg. They’re currently running a holiday menu that’s priced a little on the higher end—but absolutely fair for the quality and the massive portion sizes. I was already full just from the zucchini appetizer and a bowl of wedding soup (sadly forgot to grab pics of those). The zucchini was awesome—served with a charred lemon and a really tasty marinara that brought everything together. For my entrée, I ordered the Chicken Marsala (normally paired with mashed potatoes) but subbed in the creamy risotto instead. The plate came out piping hot with three pieces of chicken, and the Marsala sauce was the perfect consistency with spot-on flavor. If I had one critique, it’d be that it could’ve used more mushrooms—next time I’ll definitely ask for double mushrooms. The risotto was super creamy and also cooked perfectly, with great flavor… but heads up: it does have crushed red pepper, and a couple bites that had the peppers in them were pretty spicy for me. Still delicious. My brother ordered the steak with long-stem broccoli and mashed potatoes. The sides were great, and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium, but it unfortunately came out ice cold and under-seasoned, so it tasted bland. Since I’m a chef, I mentioned it to our server purely as feedback—no complaints, no trying to get anything for free—just letting them know. Ben (the manager on duty) came out immediately, was genuinely apologetic, and offered to remake it without hesitation. My brother declined because he was fine eating it, but Ben still checked in and handled the situation exactly the way you’d hope a manager would. I can’t remember our server’s name (it started with an M), but she was excellent—always on top of refills, quick to clear plates, and she even brought to-go bags without us having to ask (which you hardly see anymore). The restaurant was really busy around 6 PM and parking was tough, but once inside, the place is beautiful—warm, lively, and upscale without feeling stuffy. The location next to the passenger train station is a cool touch too. Overall: great food, huge portions, beautiful atmosphere, and outstanding service/management. Minus the one cold steak, everything was on point, and I’ll absolutely be back.

Boom City Restaurant & Pub - Williamsport

Paul Ginnane Thursday Wings and Yuengling lager special well worth the stop! Enjoyed $2.50 bottles of lager and a big plate of piping hot crispy wings for $7.50 on the patio of the historic city hall building. Neat atmosphere and friendly attentive staff.

Parc - Philadelphia

Rating: 4.6 /5
perle75nyc I stopped by Philadelphia over the weekend and decided to visit this place after seeing how busy it was both in the morning and at night — and the great reviews didn’t lie! The restaurant sits right across from a park, and despite the crowd and size, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive (except for the host — a little smile or warmth would’ve made a much better first impression). Thanks to the generous, delicious breakfast and the genuinely kind service, my day started off perfectly. The gentleman who guided us to our table greeted us with such thoughtful manners, and our server’s hospitality was truly flawless. It’s been a while since I had such a pleasant dining experience, so I happily left a bigger tip than usual. These days, some restaurants can’t even provide decent basic service yet still circle the “extra tip” section on the receipt — but this place was outstanding in every way. The bread basket was amazing — even the complimentary bread was fresh and delicious. The butter was a bit too cold and hard to spread, but the jam that came with it was wonderful. The onion soup we shared was absolutely perfect, and the beet salad was fresh, tangy, and refreshing. The quiche was soft, seasoned well, and had an ideal texture. The only small downside was the coffee, which could have been better. But overall, the bright smile and warm service from our server, along with the team’s attentiveness even during the busy rush, made this a truly delightful breakfast experience. Highly recommend — this place absolutely deserves its great reputation!

Charlotte Street Coffee Roasters - Pottstown

Rating: 4.7 /5
Job Hill Support small businesses people. Well at least the good & great ones. Which Charlotte Street Roasters is under that umbrella. My only gripe is during peak time they should have more than two workers in the kitchen. Tatianna was great. Able to accommodate my needs. This place is vegan which is great for plant based eaters like myself. Chickpea Sandwich and Cold Brew with Oatmilk and reasonably priced. On par with Starbucks but the sandwich definitely had better quality ingredients than anything I’ve tried at Starbudks. The Cold was solid. Not the most refreshing thing I’ve ever had, but the brew’s roast was thick & rich enough to satisfy me. They even have signed books there from a local author. If you want to shop small & local then this place is definitely it.
