1.Café Momentum Pittsburgh

Kiara Thorpe I had the pleasure of speaking with three waiters: Sam, Taru, and Daivon. They took great care with our table! We had the lobster ravioli and smoke fried chicken. I’m from the South and these were some solid greens: little tang, sweet and heat. No pics of the food…we cleared our plates before we could even consider it! The whipped cream on both the chocolate torte and the strawberry shortcake was divine. I love the mission of Cafe Momentum and will recommend this spot to others around Pittsburgh who need a great spot to eat + support a mission of collaboration and community restoration.

Josh Kane Came here somewhat on a whim for brunch on our honeymoon. Made reservations for a Saturday around 10. Probably didn’t need the reservations but nevertheless from the minute we walked in to the minute we left the service was stellar and the staff was alert and friendly. Asked all the right questions about allergies and preferences and gave us a very comfortable amount of time to read the menu and make selections without feeling rushed. Once the food came everything was perfect, very tasty, and we had zero problems. Never felt that I was without drink and never felt like I was waiting for our server to remember us. There’s a couple reviews mentioning dress. I think the location and style lends itself to the visitors of both the will-penn and Monaco hotels. It’s pretty safe to assume that you will see resort casual especially for brunch. I would say this style matches the blend of upscale but still casual that the building and staff give off.

Maddog4x4 Me and my fiancé went out for date night up to Mount Washington. I had this place on my bucket list to come We had few drinks and something small to eat. We like the open doors. It did rain but was nice and refreshing. We had the smokehouse fries. I also had kicking mule and espresso martini and my fiancé had two peach cobbler martinis. The bartender working Saturday night was extremely friendly. We will be returning. There is a parking lot behind and it’s not horrible price to park. $12 bucks but I think it worth it.

Ryan Weigold I was recently visiting Pittsburgh for a family event and heard about Roccos. Let me tell you..I was by myself, so I sat at the bar with their amazing bartender Jaime. She had so many wonderful suggestions. From the filthy martini to start, to the the wine to the appetizer to entree and dessert. Of course I got all but their beans and greens by far are the best ive ever tasted in my life. I probably wouldnt have ever ordered them without her recommendation, and now cant stop thinking about them. The giant meatball pasta was fantastic and enough for leftovers. The cannoli was also delicious, I liked you got two varieties. Jaime was the perfect introduction to Roccos and I cant wait to go back when I get back to town.

Cameron Great no nonsense place to get drinks and some really great sandwiches, at a reasonable price too! Their sandwiches all looked amazing, with their egg sandwich with mozzarella sticks being unholy and delicious. Sadly they don’t come with fries, but I absolutely think they’re worth getting as a side, they were the best kind of classic crinkle cut, love it!

Courtney Mattey We stopped here for an early dinner prior to seeing a show, and we would recommend a reservation because even at an earlier dinner time on a Saturday, it got busy quickly! When planning a stop here, consider the show schedules in the Cultural District as the busyness of the restaurant and the area itself are heavily impacted by shows and events. The menu offers a large variety of plates, ranging from sandwiches to full steak dinners and tasting menus for larger parties. For an early dinner, my husband and I stuck to sandwiches. Our waiter also gave us a complimentary chimmi churri flight as it was our first time visiting, and the red pepper was the best one by far! The service was great, and when we asked for recommendations, our waiter did an excellent job of walking us through the menu and giving recommendations based on both what tends to be most popular in each section, but also what he enjoys and appreciates. I had the braised beef sandwich, and the flavors and tenderness of the beef were stunning, I can see why it’s listed as the #1 guest favorite on the menu! My husband had the steak burger (which is cooked on the wood fire grill), and we were impressed with the flavor that the wood grill brought to the meat. He noted that having more than two choice toppings included would be nice (he added some of the red pepper chimmi churri), but fewer toppings does let the wood grilled flavor shine. The meat quality is really outstanding, the only critique we have is that for around $20 for a sandwich, we would hope the included side options would be a bit more stand-out (you can opt to get a salad instead of chips if you prefer). We don’t typically get dessert at restaurants, but the pionono caught our eye, and it was worth it. It’s a more unique flavor combination and profile, but it’s delicious and the cake has a lovely texture. The seasonal fruit topping we had included raspberries, strawberries, and vanilla. As far as unique elements go, the red pepper chimmi churri and the pionono were the parts of the meal that stood out to us most, but our meal was good quality over all, and we’d recommend considering Gaucho Parrilla Argentina the next time you’re near the Cultural District.
