K. T. Came here for the first time in a long time. The waiter recommended the Soy Garlic and Gangnam Style chicken wings so we ordered them. All the flavor was fantastic. The Soy Garlic and Gangnam Style were so flavorful and had crispy texture. They have several other flavors so well be back to check it out. We also ordered a side of fries. Overall, kind of pricey in general, but worth coming once in a while. We eat a lot and the portions for this place is a lot. The staff are fast and friendly. They give a round of water bottles for free, but will charge for more water. There’s a small parking garage and nearby paid parking lot. There are a lot of tables to dine on.

JESSE Travels Is it a bar? Is it a restaurant? Or did I just step into a dang time machine that hurled me straight back to 1970s America? This place is like a local secret, the kind of joint you don’t just find—you inherit the knowledge of its existence from someone who smokes unfiltered Marlboros and still calls you “kid.” I almost feel bad even writing this, local secret. From the outside, Shannon’s looks like the kind of place where you might stumble into an underground poker game or find an old-timer who’s been nursing the same Budweiser since the Reagan administration. A bit of a rundown shack, sure, but Step inside, and suddenly, it’s 1970s all over again. Urban Cowboy vibes hit you like a two-step to the face. The walls have old photos, mixed with signs that span decades—some new, some so faded. A bench that looks like it might have been stolen from a ‘60s hippy house. The glow of neon flickers over a haze of cigarette smoke that’s probably been lingering since the old Western days. You can smoke in here—yeah, you read that right. The air smells like nostalgia, regret, and the kind of life choices you make at 2 AM when a jukebox full of Merle Haggard is playing. And if you were wondering whether this place has opinions, the Trump 2020 sign by the bench clears that right up. Nobody here is taking a poll on your feelings. There are two dining areas, a small bar, and a couple of pool tables where I assume deals are made with a firm handshake and a shot of whiskey. A modern jukebox plays off TouchTunes, but at 7 AM, the soundtrack was old-school country—none of that new pop-country nonsense. The clientele? A mix of night-shift refinery guys knocking back beers before heading home, and a group of older Black gentlemen at the bar praising Trump, which—look, I wasn’t expecting that at 7 AM, but this place doesn’t follow a script. I ordered the pancakes, eggs, bacon, and toast, because I came for the pancakes, and let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint. Texas-sized, fluffy, golden brown perfection—exactly the kind of pancakes that make you believe in America again. The eggs were solid, the bacon was crispy, and the toast did its job. I didn’t even bother looking at the rest of the menu because I was here on a mission, but I’m definitely coming back before I leave town to see what kind of damage their lunch and dinner menu can do. The waitress?  Kind, attentive, and faster than a guy trying to dodge an alimony payment. Final verdict: 5 stars—not because it’s the best food in Texas, but because it’s a goddamn experience. A place that time forgot, a hole-in-the-wall in the armpit of Texas that has stories and history seeping from its walls. If you don’t like cigarette smoke, old-school diners, or places that don’t cater to your delicate sensibilities, do yourself a favor and keep driving. Nobody here is losing sleep over your absence. For the rest of us? Shannon’s is a time capsule worth stepping into

Its an oasis of gastronomic delight, but today, it became the backdrop for an event as rare as rain in these parts - a NASA lander being transported on a big rig pulled in, turning the mundane into the extraordinary. At the heart of this unexpected cosmic encounter was the shops counter, manned by a young, sharp-witted local. His banter was as precise as a surgeons scalpel, slicing through the days monotony with quips sharp enough to cut through the thickest of sandwich bread. "Whats the special for an astronaut?" he jested to the truck driver, "A sandwich with a side of stars?" His sandwiches, much like his humor, were crafted with an artisans touch. Each bite was a revelation; the bread, toasted to a golden crisp, cradled fillings that danced the line between innovation and tradition. From the Galactic Gobble, a turkey and cranberry fusion that was out of this world, to the Martian Melt, a grilled cheese that could warm the coldest Martian night, his creations were nothing short of stellar. In this place, where the road meets the sky, you could feel the potential in the air - not just from the lander headed to the stars but from the young man behind the counter. Heres to hoping that his wit and sandwiches propel him to a future as bright and boundless as the desert sky he serves under. For travelers, this stop is more than refueling; its a reminder of human potential, served with a side of wit and wonder.

Nicki Anderson Driving through on my way to work I ran across this gem. Asian cuisine is my favorite and I wasnt expecting to see anything but burgers and Mexican in this area. Not really a buffet person, I took a look at their menu. Once again, not expecting much. I cannot ever find my favorite dish anywhere but here in teeny tiny Texas town I find Singapore Mei Fun and its done perfectly. I requested extra veggies and the takeout box is no less than 3 pounds! Im beyond excited to have something besides Mexican (for the next few days at least). Hot & Sour soup also very very good. Crab wontons are plentiful and very good as well. Pleasantly surprised and I absolutely will be stopping here every time Im headed back to work.

Karsen Jackson New to Palestine and have been on a breakfast Taco quest lately and I FINALLY found the BEST breakfast tacos. Fresh big fluffy corn tortillas that taste like abuelitas love. Good spice, with just the right amount of kick. Blown away, will probably be here all the time.10/10 this is THE place to get tacos!!!!

Sherrie Garza This is the fastest and cleanest long John’s ever. The service is amazing and Eric is always so nice and friendly. He’s fast and does great with customer service. I will definitely come back to this one always.
