4 /5 Yoli K: Stopped by Jimmy Joe’s last week for the first time while working in the area and looking for something nearby. The restaurant has a nice layout with plenty of seating options, including cozy booths and a good-sized patio that would be great when the weather cooperates. As soon as we sat down, they brought out warm cornbread with garlic butter, which was absolutely delicious. We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer, and that was very good as well. For entrées, we ordered the chicken pasta and the redfish with a crab cake. The pasta was just okay, I wasn’t a fan of the red cream sauce, and the dish felt like it was missing a few elements. I think it would have been much better with a creamy wine sauce and additions like sautéed onions, bacon, and mushrooms. The redfish was cooked well and served with dirty rice and grilled vegetables, but it also lacked flavor. After a few bites, my husband asked me to “fix it up,” which meant bringing it home and seasoning it properly. The next day, I added Cajun seasoning, garlic butter, and made a lemon herb dipping sauce. I tossed the dirty rice (it tasted like Rice-A-Roni) and made fresh rice instead. My husband didn’t even realize it was the same fish, he said it was amazing.
The true standout of the entire experience was the service. Our waitress was fantastic, and multiple staff members checked on us throughout the meal. The level of attentiveness really impressed us. Because the service was so good, we do plan to return when we’re in the area. While the food wasn’t very flavorful, it was prepared well, and it’s clear the staff genuinely cares about your experience...and that makes a big difference.
