Shio - Wichita Falls

Rating: 4.8 /5
Morgan F If you arent a fan of sushi but have always wanted to like it, or youre new to sushi but scared, this is absolutely the place you need to be going for Sushi in Wichita Falls (according to my husband this is the place if not near the ocean at all). I am NOT a sushi enthusiast, it has always made my skin prickle & my mouth not water. I enjoy thoroughly cooked fish, not raw, I can handle a good fried sushi, like 1 bite (1 bite = 1 roll of the entire roll). However, I was watching sushi and Asian food tiktoks as one does while falling asleep, I dreamt about it, my mouth was watering. I promptly woke up just in time for dinner (I work nights) demanding my husband take me to Shio. Shio specifically because my cousin & her BF have been raving about the food, begging us to come in (mind you my cousin is very specific about what she eats due to many reasons, & she loves the food, & that is huge in our family if she will eat it. Her BF loves sushi as does my husband). Anyway, I was determined to eat some sushi, but also ordered other items just incase I got nauseous... because raw fish, right? I definitely came in wanting the hubs to pick a fried sushi (four items on the sushi menu are cooked/fried)... to my surprise, he chose one of the raw, most fresh, most green sushis on the list (they actually had a similar version that is fried). I said "oooookaaaay," and let him do as he wanted because I did want to try something new and he does enjoy sushi. We ordered the Hamachi Garden (yellowtail), I would honestly eat this a couple times a week if I could. It was NOT slimy, not a freaky weird texture in my mouth, it was genuinely refreshing, fresh tasting and feeling (?), I was not grossed out by any of the textures, the roll blended together very nicely during chewing (Im not sure how else to describe this, but it was not gross). I ATE 3-4 ROLLS YALL, THREE TO FOUR not 1. Anyway, I dont know if I want to try sushi anywhere else, but I WOULD try other raw sushi at Shio. Besides the absolutely delightful sushi experience, we also ordered Garlic Edamame & Dumplings (4) from the appetizer list & the Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowl which were all amazing! I dont know how the hubs & I did it, but there was nothing left. We also highly enjoyed the Hana Flavored Sake (Fuji apple), the $8 one is perfect for 2 people to share. Absolutely amazing place for a date night or group, but reservations are encouraged greatly because it IS a very small intimate area. We had a great time as well!

Jessica Jones Staying at Canyon of the Eagles this weekend (great place) and my husband saw this place on Google. I’m always down for bbq - walking up, my mouth started watering because the smells were **amazing** Simple seating with picnic tables and awnings The owner and friend were jovial and friendly The food… hands down, best Bar-B-Que I’ve had since we came to Texas. Flat out. The sauces were amazing The “beans on the house” were the ‘stick to your ribs, meaty’ type The pulled pork sandwich had layers of flavor, the meat moist and delicious. Then the ribs fell off the bones and we were blown away by their texture and (can I use flavor again??). The sauces were the best I’ve had from the Carolina’s through Tennessee and Mississippi to Texas. We actually talked him out of a bottle! (Made my husband so happy!!) Definitely worth a stop, but come at 11! They cook Friday through Saturday morning and, once they sell out, they’re done. (Usually by 1:00pm, says Randy).

Surya Shanmugam I came in on Saturday around noon. Nice, small place. It seemed extremely busy, I think because they had a large group. The server was nice. He brought out biscuits that were crumbly and melted in my mouth. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, which was delicious and not greasy. The food took a very long time, but I genuinely think it was because they had a big group.

Lambortini Bar & Grill - Longview

Ginga Dudley the master of multi tasking matrid, bartender , server, and gracious guru, Daniel has hopefully not given us patrons de Lambortini more of her energy than we deserve, yet has done a fabulous balancing act of the goddess Sheba proportions to ensure our bladders and bellies are both full of deliciousness. Ill be returning again and again. It is a hotel franchise, yet the chef is not a cookie cutter yes man. He takes the type of pride in the texture, taste and presentation you would expect from a Wolfgang upity posh place, and this is A holiday inn in between a gamblin hot spot and the center of the universe, Dallas, Texas, United States of Merica. God bless Gastronomique experiences so far from a major airport.
